Does Estibot Suck?

I've been reading the thread resaraunts where the posters have been saying that Estibots estimations are "meaningless".

I've just started buying a few domains and some of them based on Estibot evaluations.

So what do the seasoned pro's use to evaluate a domain?

Has anyone ever used estibot as leverage for selling to an end user?

How many replies to this post will just say "Yes [it sucks]

Using Estibot is a complete waste of your time, nobody is going to pay any attention to prices people post, saying the valuation was by Estibot, the same applies to similar free valuation tools such as valuate.com, which is powered by Estibot

Estibot is a completely useless tool, just like all other automated domain valuation systems. You might as well save yourself some time and set fire to your money if you're going to rely on it to decide what to reg or not.

And yes, it IS that bad!

As a valuation tool I agree, but there are other aspects of Estibot that can come in handy. For example if you scan a list of domains and then export the results to CSV it gives some nice metrics and profiling of the domain list, quick and easy.

Think about it logically, a domain is free to price as you wish. As well as all the parameters one brings to attempt to evaluate a domain it is actually you, the registrant, who makes that final decision.

So how can a program make that decision.

It can be used to quickly filter lists in accordnace with its estimations, and then use the high priced domains to make you own decisions.

Sedo are investing a lot of time and money in a software, one the IT dept at Domcollect developed first. After all these years it is still a tool to filter out the rubbish and highlight potential domains.

Estibot is just a tool

All these tools consider different factors in determining the value of a domain. Except Valuate that is powered by estibot which means the 2 use same indices.

The simple truth is that you can not or should not base the price of a domain solely on what a tool says.

What i have noticed however is that estibot is slightly more regarded than the other tools. I may be wrong. Just an observation of mine.
