ok im wondering if this is normal - sold a domain in the premium auction last thursday, yet sedo still havent recieved the payment from the winner. is this the normal time scale or is this going to be one of them false auctions.

I sold a domain in their last premium auction, transfer sorted and I recieved payment yesterday

i must have a dud sale then :)

hope it goes through for you Paul
probably buyer just scrabbling for funds

if you're reading this sedo, with the huge amount i and others pay you every year you can feel free to make me an offer 'via sedo' :D for 'premiumauction.co.uk'

and still nothing, sedo seem to be emailing the buyer every 5 days and asking them for payment. As the domain was sold 12 days ago the £200 in fees must be only for there email service AND NOT THEM ACTUALLY PICKING UP THE FRIGIN PHONE AND CALLING THE BUYER TO ASK WHERE THE PAYMENT IS.

Remeber each Sedo transfer agent deals with up to 500,000 live transfers at any one time. If they telephoned every one who didn't pay up promptly, they'd run out of time before we all died.

the 'broker' title is a joke
most have never brokered anything in their lives
i remeber emailing brad a few years back and telling him 'sedobroker/s.com' were free to reg. that was back in the day sedo had some decent staff.
should have regged tham and made a site like 'nodaddy.com' where we could all post our moans

apparently also, sedo is having an exodus of staff

love the 'german' comment lol

i can think of a quite a few that need a kick up the arse in joining that exodus, but theyre the ones who will stay and rip a wage

i could do a better job looking after the UK market part of sedo.

does anyone know if sedo actually phone buyers? as ive asked this to sedo about 3 times and they dont seem to want to tell me. another day off We have contacted them etc etc.

What does the "£200 in fees" mean .. you paid £200 in fees to enter the auction or that £200 is sedo commission if the deal closes ...

I have had a number of Sedo auctions fall over recently because of non payers, this can take up to a month before Sedo gives up on the reminder emails and relists your domain back for sale .. in the mean time you are stuck with the contract to sell ..

If the buyer defaults demand that Sedo supply you with the defaulters full details and that Sedo ban the user ... this is something that i have doudts that Sedo actually ban the high bidder .. there is no confirmation from Sedo that they have banned the defaulter .. plus demand that Sedo give you another premium auction listing ...

You will get a name and address from sedo .. Google it .. find out about the defaulter then annoy the crap out of him/her with legal threats ..

I have got one guy in my sights who i am just waiting to find on a domain board to out him as a defaulter ..

My 2 pence worth

Agree with this. Sedo have got to get tough with defaulters. No ifs and buts but an immediate ban. Including banning them under any new Sedo account they might then open. Until Sedo take a really tough line this will happen again and again. I remember a nice sale some years ago that was not completed because the mortgage/loan company said that someone had bid in their office without their authority. Then there was the bidder who said he had accidently bid ten times what he wanted to! Defaulters will always think up a good excuse. But Sedo have it in their power to ban whatever the excuse and there should be one rule - if you don't complete a sale - you're banned permanently.

For what it's worth, I've just had confirmation of payment received by Sedo today for this which I had almost given up on. So there's still a chance....

Bidder 1 May/21/10 11:50 AM CEST Winning Bid!

I agree with this poster. The domain community has the ability to name and shame defaulters, the process should start with the auction house naming and banning defaulters, the inability of that buyer to then deal creditably will act as a deterrent to others.

I hope you deduct cost of your time from their 'fees'!

thats a good point actually rob. i think ive sent them about 10 emails, and replied to there transfer centre about 6 time so at the moment ive wasted about 3 hours of my time.

here is a good reply i got in the transfer centre on the Jun/03/10

"
The buyer has sent a message to say that payment has been made. Once it clears in our account we will proceed with the transfer."

so has sedo got the money and just keeping hold to gain interest or just telling me they recieved it so i would sit and wait?

I've had something similar adn I think it depends on how the payment is made, some international transfers can take a week. I'd say that if the buyer is communicating with Sedo then it looks hopeful.

this could be true but what is annoying me is ive asked and asked have they spoken to the buyer or just emailed but for some reason this is going on deaf ears.

if they have actually spoken to them then fair enough but if they are just using email every 5 days then the £200 fees i dont think is acceptable.

Getting answers from them is an olympic task, I've only done about 5 sales through them & it depends on who is your transfer agent as to what kind of communication you get, some are on the ball, others don't give a sh*t.

I'm currently trying to get a response from them since they banned all my (400+) domains parked with them last week (apparently one of them was getting 'spam traffic' - how the hell am I supposed to control that??) I sense a very long battle trying to get someone to respond to my reply to them ......
