Can anyone offer me advice please?

I am setting myself up for ridicule I am sure, but for the past 8 years I have paid what is now around £60 a month for my Fasthosts Reseller account although I am not a reseller, simply because I used to have over 100 domains I wanted hosted, and I just heard about Fasthosts and stuck with them.

My situation now is I only have 10 domains that need hosting, and because I am about to start my nursing course at uni, I need to get those hosted for no more than £10 a month in total for all ten.

Can anyone advise me? Is that practical? The domains are low content (not talking gigabites) and low traffic. They are simply very useful personal and family domains.

Is there a hosting company or package out there with a safe reputation, because I really want to keep my domain-identified websites online, but £60 a month is beyond my budget altogether?

Thanks for any ideas,
x
Susannah

Krystal Hosting have a great range of packages I'd recommend using them sounds like the topaz plan would suit your requirements.

I have plenty of space on one of my own reseller accounts (UK).
Can offer you the 10 domains, cPanel hosting, £10 a month, cancel anytime?

Give me a shout with your space / bandwidth requirements, we charge on space allocated not whether the account is a reseller or has a particular feature enabled. From memory, I think the smallest reseller account we have on the system has only a few hundred Mb of space, but it suits that customer.

Info removed since azooza is more than generous with his server :)

I have a server in the UK with PLESK. I'll do it for nothing as long as you're careful and reasonable. PM me if interested.

Hey thank you!

I'm overwhelmed by people's kindness and what I'm going to do is sleep on all this.

I kick myself for paying out so much for so long, when it's pretty clear I could have saved myself a lot of money.

My websites are modest affairs. They just give me pleasure and are meaningful for people I love.

Meanwhile, I am still trying to raise another 1 or 2 thousand pounds for my nursing course, so I'm going to see if I can interest anyone in a portfolio with some good domains at knock-down (but fair) prices.

I start at City University in September.

Always the gentleman Dale :)
Would you make the same offer if the OP was male ;)

P.S.
I use these guys http://www.pcsmarthosting.com/reseller.php for my uk hosting. 4 quid a month for unlimited sites with the basic reseller package, always plenty for my needs.

£4 a month for reseller!?!?

It's only a small reseller account for £4 a month so would be no good for actually reselling, but perfect if you want to personally host a couple of dozen wordpress sites etc.

£4 a month? Surely they're asking for trouble

I don't think so, they seem stable to me and I've been using them for almost a year without any problems. I only have a reseller account with them now but have used them in the past for a dedicated sql server (VPS).
They are a "proper" hosting company with their own racks in a UK datacentre, so it's not some spotty teenager selling hosting from his parents spare room :p
I'd recommend them to anyone looking for UK hosting.
The only thing that seems strange to me is if you want to double your capacity the price goes from 4 quid to a tenner from the basic package to the next level. If I needed extra space/bandwidth I'd just buy a fresh basic package and save 2 quid a month (but I'm a tight Scotsman) My sql server was only a fiver a month and I think I was getting a guaranteed 512MB RAM, (maybe it was 256 I'm not too sure) that's not bad for a fiver :D

From experience, I have seen nothing but problems when a client was using PC Smart Hosting a while ago. When there was downtime, it wasn't for short periods and the support was poor (uptime was business critical just like it is for most websites now).

Personally I now use Xilo.net for my own hosting and it's who I recommend people to as well. I have rarely had any problems, and when there has been one you will generally hear back from support within minutes rather than hours.

Obviously this is my experience, but 'caveat emptor' comes to mind as you generally get what you pay for with hosting. :)
