On October 25-30, 2025, it.com Domains joined the ICANN84 (Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers) Annual General Meeting in Dublin, Ireland. Andrey Insarov, founder and CEO of it.com Domains, Joe Alagna, Chief Strategy Officer, Alessandro Baruffi, Director of International Partnerships, and Rolandas Japertas, Business Development Manager, represented the company at the event.

This meeting focused on the upcoming Next Round of New gTLD (generic top-level domain) Program, the evolution of registration data policies, and the growing problem of DNS (domain name system) abuse in the era of AI-generated (artificial intelligence) identifiers.

ICANN unveiled an expanded Applicant Support Program designed to help applicants with limited resources participate in the next gTLD round through new training tools and capacity-building initiatives.

A significant portion of the discussion focused on the relationship between digital identity and authentication, privacy, and inclusivity. Participants discussed whether stricter identity verification could effectively combat abuse and fraudulent registrations, or whether it could lead to the exclusion of communities without access to government-issued identifiers. Experts also expressed concerns about AI tools capable of generating realistic fake identifiers, which could undermine trust in domain registration systems.

In response, ICANN and registries are exploring a range of solutions, including multi-layered verification, decentralized digital identifiers, and AI-based systems to detect suspicious registration patterns. These measures aim to achieve a balance between security and accountability, openness, and accessibility for all users.

At it.com Domains, we closely monitor ICANN’s efforts to strengthen trust and transparency in domain registration and strive to follow their recommendations. We implement anti-fraud efforts to ensure the security of our customers. ICANN is currently facing a global challenge: strengthening identity verification to prevent abuse while maintaining the openness and inclusiveness of the internet. In the age of artificial intelligence, trust is no less important than accessibility,
