On June 8–11, 2026, it.com Domains participated in the ICANN86 Policy Forum, held in Seville, Spain. Andrey Insarov, Founder and CEO of it.com Domains, Joe Alagna, Chief Strategy Officer, Alessandro Baruffi, Director of International Partnerships, Tess Diaz, Director of Channel Development, and Sergey Gorbunov, Director of Registry Services represented company at the event.
Organized by ICANN (Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers), the annual four-day Policy Forum focused on ongoing policy development work, community outreach, and opportunities for networking among stakeholders across the domain name ecosystem. The event brought together registries, registrars, technical experts, and other members of the Internet community to discuss issues shaping the future of the DNS (Domain Name System).
This year’s agenda covered a wide range of topics, including combating DNS abuse, access to domain name registration data, DNS security and stability, Universal Acceptance, internationalized domain names, and the governance of systems that support the global coordination of Internet numbering resources.
The program also featured two plenary sessions: The Impact of Artificial Intelligence on DNS Abuse Today and in the Future and A Discussion on the Feasibility of a Platform for Generic Top-Level Domains Supported Through the Applicant Support Program. These discussions highlighted both the challenges and opportunities facing the domain industry as it prepares for the next phase of expansion.
Our team actively participated in sessions, meetings, and networking activities, exchanging expertise and gaining insights from industry peers. One of the key topics of discussion was the upcoming round of the New gTLD (generic top-level domain) Program, which will create new opportunities for brands, organizations, and communities interested in operating their own domain extension.
As preparations for the next round continue, it.com Domains is further developing its Registry Service Provider (RSP) platform, providing future registry operators with a secure and reliable infrastructure for launching and managing TLDs. Participation in ICANN86 allowed the team to better understand community expectations and the needs of prospective applicants, helping shape solutions that address the evolving requirements of the market.
The company’s expertise in this area is also reflected in the book How to Get Your Own Top-Level Domain: An Insider’s Guide to ICANN’s Application Process, co-authored by Joe Alagna and Andrey Insarov. The book provides practical guidance for organizations considering applying for and operating their own TLD.
