Hello Acorn Family ;)

We are proud to launch Live Auction Feed v3 with more features, data, and quality-of-life changes.

So, what happened is, in the middle of all the projects and exams I was working on:
We are working on Hostmaria's own DNS and theming on 4 different forums (27.be, stakersforum.com, forumndd.com, and eventexpertforum.com). You can check the themes on the respective sites.

I took a bit of time to address all the issues our auction feed was having and worked on several related issues. The issue was so huge that I had to bring a major version change.

The first thing you will notice is the quick filters. You can easily filter through some of the most used filters. You can click through filters to get a good list of domains for what you want, like clean domains, which, on one click, lists no hyphens and no numbers. Or, aged domains- domains that have history on the Wayback Machine before 2005. Or, domains in demand that have registered extensions as well as bids. This is not really perfect, as some marketplaces prefer not to show their bids, and we barely have Wayback data for every auction listing. It is filling up slowly - currently only 12.9% to 16.6% of total domains in 2 days, but the auctions keep on expiring as well.

Data: Archive.org Wayback Age processed amount of data reaches 16.6% of listings

We have a new column for "Dictionary Words" -> counting how many dictionary words the domain consists of (it tries to match max 5 dictionary words & returns the smallest path -> eg if the domain is away.com -> there are two ways to interpret this: away and a way; it captures the one with the lowest dictionary word count = 1)

Some endpoints (from the marketplaces) were moved from the initial point as well, so those weren't working and were showing 0 domains.

Moreover, we were only allowing one platform per domain -> so if a domain was listed on multiple platforms, whichever won the race in our database was the one listed. Now, all the platforms are shown as a list of logos, so you can go to your preferred marketplace to bid on the listing.
One more major change is the mobile experience. The table view works great on desktop, where you have enough screen space to compare a lot of auction data at once. On mobile, however, the same layout meant constant zooming, horizontal scrolling, and generally made the feed harder to navigate. And I recognized that's most of the users.

So, instead of trying to squeeze the desktop table onto a smaller screen, we redesigned the mobile view specifically for mobile users. The new layout is much more compact and easier to scan. Most of the important information is visible immediately without opening anything, while the remaining details are available with a single tap. You still get the same useful auction data, just presented in a way that actually feels comfortable to browse on a phone.

Other QoL:
Let me rapid-fire through some other changes that will make life easier.
  1. Keyboard navigation and keymaps on desktop.
  2. Multi-select and bulk copy and bulk add to collections, making it easier to shortlist domains
  3. Filter multiple platforms/marketplaces at once.
  4. Different spacing for desktop for those who want the table to be more compact or more spacious
  5. Performance increments
We have also created a proper admin panel with all the interesting data that we are excited to show, so please stay tuned for all the extras.

Until then,
Chao
