My queries have been reset to zero so something has happened, however it seems to be running fine now.

has anything dropped in the past few hours for you?

These two dropped after 09:30 I think:

fishareus.co.uk
buildingadvice.co.uk

No problems here... remember

The DAC is available to TCP connections to port 2043 at dac.nic.uk from registered IP addresses only.

So IP change wont affect anyone following the spec ;)

He is not asking whether there is a drop or not! Nominet has changed the IP of DAC without giving prior information. My DAC is not working now. Mr Jay Daley are you around?

What does that mean? So are you saying that if we say there is a problem we were using proxy or not-registered IP? Specs are already at zero. Problem here is that Nominet MUST give prior information what is going to change.

i called nominet about this and they said they had moved the dac from london to oxford so use dac.nic.uk, she then said this is a permenant thing now. Also i asked why didnt i recieve notice as a member and was told they informed a selective few ??? i wonder who they told about it.....................

I think the point is that the IP change is irrelevant. As long as you tell your script to connect to dac.nic.uk then you should have no problems.

What I am saying is if you connected as per Nominet's website and instructions there would not be a problem... ! :)

Nice to know we don't matter, regardless of if we should use dac.nic.uk or the IP, why tell these "select few" and not others?....what makes these "select few" different from the rest of us?

We didn't tell anyone. Either we announce it or we don't. We never tell a selective few.

As others have said if you code to the host name not the IP address then this should have worked fine. However we probably should have announced it.

out of curiosity, was there any reason for moving the dac to oxford?

also - is there anything else apart from the location/ip that has changed?

jay...

what was the reason behind bringing dac to oxford ???

I cant ping or run traceroutes on the DAC I presume everyones being blocked.
