Is that first one a typo?

Considering this is a .uk forum why not just post all.uk domains in the auction rather than a selection of .everything

I think the seller is missing a trick not having the page redirect to the auction page. Think the reserve maybe a little high on that tbh.

High? Its a premium top name dontchaknow!

Please find a list of all the .co.uks

Some excellent names on there, and hopefully there will be a good few sales. And as always, a whole bunch of stuff that has no place on a list headed "Premium Auction" but then that's par for the course I guess.

Out of curiosity, why is Hussain.co.uk on the list? It was sold at the last Sedo Premium auction...

two are ongoing at time of posting, one reserve met and going, the other not:

pisa.co.uk 2010-07-22 17:15 280 10 4 active|rnm
swimsuit.co.uk 2010-07-22 17:16 1300 20 7 active

The reserve is a bit misleading - 1 - 499 and its usually 499. Why not start with min starting bid with no reserve so people know thats what it will sell at.

Other exts performed similar way, so either the reserves are too high or no one spending money at the moment.

Ridiculous reserves, compared to what's available here, at DomainLore and elsewhere. I clicked on a couple which weren't that high-priced (I thought) at their then-high bids (few hundred pounds) only to find that their reserves were in the 5,000+ pound range.

Next time, either get sensible reserves or at least start the auctions AT reserve. Altogether, there must have been several hundred totally pointless bids across the ones that didn't sell, because everyone was effectively bidding at tiny fractions of the actual reserves.

The measure of an auction's success MUST be the number of sales, not the number of bids. Better to have e.g. 3 sales and 0 wasted bids than 1 sale and hundreds of wasted bids because of a ridiculous format.

Confidence in Sedo also an issue, comments from decent .UK domainers with 6-7fig portfolios:

"xtm £350 bid .. yeah right"

" got more chance of sellign than nick having a chinwag with queenie today"

"what a load of shit"

etc

The single biggest problem is that the same complaints (ridiculous reserves, junk names mixed in with a few decent ones, poor publicity for the auctions) are raised practically EVERY SINGLE TIME yet there's no sign that Sedo is listening*

*Having a Sedo rep say "We listen to everything" is frankly worthless (that's your cue, Joanna) unless ACTIONS reflect that. Otherwise it just sounds phoney/patronising.

I have tbh it was quite crazy the reserves sedo wanted to place.

I wanted to list kirsty.co.uk and natalie.co.uk but sedo wanted to list them with a £400 reserve on each ? That's even lower than reseller price on here, let alone premium auction prices. Simon.co.uk reached £3500 with rnm - double standards ?

I think edwin is totally right tbh ! They seem to be very amateurish in the way they conduct an auction, or even handle a good working environment to sell names. Until this auction, sedo were on my list of potential avenues to broker a name in the easily achievable £xxx, xxx region (for this name) but now I'm not so sure.....

We have to work with what we have. Sellers need to re-look at their price expectations and understand that in an auction it is a completely different ballgame to an open sales format and that in the current market, sellers have to be prepared to agree to lower reserves.

A lot of premium names are not entered into the auction due to the seller's reserve expectations being too high.

Nonsense! Reputation-management wise, it's best to run a "premium" auction with 6 domains than with 50 domains, if there are only 6 domains worthy of that label.

Every time you stir junk into the mix, that's one more blow to Sedo's credibility and especially to the phrase "premium auction".

Virtually nothing sold anyway, so Sedo loses nothing by being more picky rather than less.
