I was a little bored so I thought I'd share my experiences on AD since joining up a little over 12 months ago.

I first heard about Acorn from Scott (through his blog), and finally signed up, meeting Rob, Rob Prime, Tommy, James, Fraser and a few others; some whom I never met, such as Khalid (RIP)

A lot of the meeting was down to this and this event.

I posted a few times, got offered a job and began trading, with a few big deals and many small ones.

I've asked for opinions and appraisels, and even tried my hand at brokering.

I've experienced hackers, took part in a Mysic Meg thread and alerted others to scammers.

I've had fun and enjoyed myself, cleared my student debt, learnt a lot and now hold one or two nice names, such as Trout.co.uk

Happy days.

Fantastic post mate and well done to everything you have achieved :)

Yeah, kudos khalid. I'm sure admin appreciates this type of feedback. Lots of people make money thanks to Acorn. Good luck to you!

Thanks mate, I guess I was trying to just say 1. thanks to AD, 2. thanks to people i've mention (and if I've pissed you out then I apologise) and 3. just to show people that with a little hard work your dreams can begin to turn into reality.

I'm no where near being a full time domainer/webmaster but every day I am edging closer, and a lot of my success is down to advice and knowledge passed on through this forum, related events etc.

great post, I've been on the forum about 2 years, and as a sign of my appreciation, I upgraded my membership.

You forgot to mention BB99.

After his advice, the world is your lobster.

Organic lobster.

For me yes, for Mr BB99 , the healthy option:

I hear you are 'big' in the Ilkley takeaway market... perhaps you ought to go healthy n all?

It could be good for you!!

Great idea for a post and I always find reward in people saying AD helped them achieve personal or financial goals. Of course donations help too :)

Admin

Haha, I bet they do! Thanks for having this forum, my donation is now passing my knowledge onto knew members ;)

Great post mate - it's been good to meet you too.

I think a lot of your progress is down to hard work as well - too many people believe the ebooks that it's all about easy money online!

Likewise, lovely to meet you.

You're right about the ebooks, but then again with so many "Make Money Online" sites it must be hard not to get sucked into the "incredibly easy methods" at first.

Two thing i have learnt over the past year:

DEVELOPMENT - FOCUS ON ONE THING:
It's far to easy to try and think that by putting 10 sites up you get 10 times the traffic of 1 site. It's also easy to get carried away by the buzz of setting things up - the real money comes in long-term development of 1 or 2 large sites.

DOMAINS - ONLY BUY WHAT YOU CAN SELL:
If you are new to domains again it is easy to get carried away and register odd brandable names that might become the next Twitter etc. Trouble is you will struggle to sell these for big bucks anyway. Only buy names you can resell. Or alternatively pool money and buy 1 of the best names you can afford. This will give you "potentially" the largest profit and you will be respected around domain circles.

Thanks again to Admin for the upkeep of the forum.
