Anyone got one?

I've just ordered one so waiting for it to be delivered.

How to install :-

Their website - http://www.tado.com/gb/?gclid=CJPv8d_X0L0CFRCWtAodam4AZg

I’ve gone for the rental (use the code richard_10 for 10% off) and am self installing. I’ve taken the rental as I’m sure that it won’t be long before we get room by room integrated radiator valves so want to be able to upgrade with minimal fuss. Rental is £6.99 per month but you pay a year in advance. There is no fixed length rental so you can terminate it and get a refund of unused months (do have to send the kit back). I can also convert to the Buy option and put up to 6 months of rental payments against the purchase cost.

I was also looking at the lightwaverf stuff and they are due to release new heating controls and a new wifi hub in May.

In the next 12 months I think consumer home automation stuff will move on leaps and bounds so I'm looking forward to it!!

I can't believe people buy things like that, apparently it turns your heating on before you get home to save money.

How about waiting until you get home and then turn the heating on, that would save more money, or just use the settings on the boiler to set what time it goes on and off and at what temperature.

You can configure how it behaves. You can set it to energy saving which turns it on when you are home, comfort turns it on when you're on your way home so it's up to temperature or you can go for a mid point. It's all about personal preference.

In our household I'm out at work Mon - Thu and my wife and son are out and about throughout the day. Our timer has the heating on throughout the day as the house is occupied but this will shut the heating off automatically when they go out and bring it back on automatically when they come home.

Requiring no manual intervention should mean I save money by letting Tado take care of it.

what happens if your internet connection goes down?

As per the FAQ - http://www.tado.com/de-en/faq

Tado said:

If your internet connection goes down, tado° remains in the mode that was previously set. In other words, if tado° was in Sleep mode before the connection was lost, it will remain in this mode. tado° automatically resumes its usual functions as soon as the internet connection is restored. Of course, you can press the Home button on the tado° box at any time to heat your house up to your preset home temperature.

What a load of rubbish, people actually buy this s***? I need to rethink what I'm putting my time and effort into for money making, sh**** apps are the way!

'Inventing a solution to a problem that doesn't exist'

Useless in my house, as we have ground source, and that has a firkin weird setup. Left to run 24/7/365 house is always warm and costs us a fraction of what gas did :) Don't need no silly app to turn my heating on :)

Slightly off topic but I do recommend one of these:

I have an outdoor ip cam that goes down from time to time. The only way to bring it back online is to switch off at the mains and back on again. This little beauty does the job very nicely.

The camera is powerd from my shed, 30ft down the garden. I get an email to my phone when the camera fails (sent from a NAS), 30 seconds later it is back online again. Done through the wifiplug phone app :D

I know there is another make on the market but it only supports iphone. This one works well with android (and I presume iphone.)

If you are in the market for one, engage in live chat and tell them you want a discount. They will give you a code for £6.00
