UHIA.com / UHIA.co.uk - United Husbands In Agony

I've had the domain for a while and my wife gave me this idea for it the other night!

What do you think? Does it have legs?

Discussion forum, gadget affiliates, car reviews etc...? Anyone have any thoughts for this idea or a domain appraisal.

UHIA is also a bunch of other things including a name & city, and the org and net are taken.

I think it's a bit hard to remember and you are just making up acronyms for the sake of it, and I think you are betting off starting with a good domain in the first place. If you are desperate for an acronym, you might get further with:

Useless Husband Is Away .com

(No offence intended ...)

No offence taken - but I think you might not have caught the jest in my post. I was just throwing out a joke and an idea...

Plus I have to repeat that my wife made up what it could stand for and I thought it was funny :) So I'm not 'making up acronyms for the sake of it' (or to hype a sale).

Plus I have lots of great domains too, plenty of which are developed. And lot's more nice ones which are in a queue to be developed. So I'm more than happy with my package, thank you very much :D

Accelerator I think you need to open your mind a bit. There a lots of ideas out there. Let's face it you're on a domaining website called 'Acorn Domains'. Not an obvious name but you still remember what to type into your browser ;)

Acorn Domains is two words, one of which is precisely related to the website theme. Yours would be four words, and people will find it too hard to remember what those words are. Saying "Have you visited UHIA.com" also doesn't really work either. By all means if you have time have a go at developing it and see how it goes, but I think you would be better off starting with a stronger domain in the first place. I get what you are trying to do, create some humour as a husband refuge, and maybe there is some mileage in that, in which case go for husbandrefuge.com or husbandrehab.com or husbandretreat.com, which are stronger.

Good luck.

Yep. I think the thing is that I was playing around with ideas for this domain after receiving an offer for it - for me to decide whether to keep it or sell it.

I'm not looking for other domains for a 'husband project' because I was more trying to think - 'If I don't sell the domain what could it be used for?' not 'What's a good name for a husband project?' Ya see the difference.

I'm not sure if you're married, but for myself and married friends 'agony' is an theme ;)

UHIA in my opinion might work better than your suggestions because it is different. Its acronym is more organizational/charity like which adds to the fun of the idea - brings the image of guys sat in a circle holding hands or something that's pathetic, but in a fun way!

The rationale that a website with a 4 letter acronym won't be remembered is silly. If you can remember (and tell people) nspcc.org.uk or 08457 48 49 50 (for rail enquiries) then uhia.com should be easy.

I think in a way nowadays the names of sites, the ideas behind sites and their USPs need to be different to stand out.

There's far too much of the same thing out there. Is UHIA different enough? probably not. But whatever the idea or name, I don't think that we should always go with the norm, because the site is more likely to be lost in the millions of others.

You'd really want to use HUIA.com anyway as Husbands United In Agony would make more sense. If you've received a half decent offer I would be inclined to sell the domain instead. As I expect you're aware four letter .coms are rising in value so don't let it go too cheaply.

I'm not married yet but perhaps I should avoid the agony?

Cheers
