Anyone else had the misfortune of using these jokers?

We're building a site for someone and they registered their domain with them.

First they charge 11.99 for a .co.uk.

They also charge 11.99 to transfer domains IN!

But the real kicker is if you want to transfer your name out, or change the nameservers etc.

There is no option to do this in the control panel.

You need to submit a support ticket, but if you aren't paying for one of their packages then you can't submit a ticket - there's no way to talk to them!

Talk about making people jump through hoops.

You pay them money for your domain name, then unless you pay them more money you can't use it.

They sound really crap I'd have your customer pay for a tag change via nominet and get the domain out of there

Hi,
I tried this, but when we finally got into her nominet account using the email address she'd signed up with at webeden, the domain wasn't there.

In fairness to webeden they did change the nameservers eventually once I'd emailed them twice and she had too, but I ended up wasting a whole morning farting around.

You need to check the whois and see who the domain is registered by the sounds of it your customer technically doesn't own their domain

Yes it's weird, on nominet she shows as the owner, but when you log into her nominet account with the email address she used to register at webeden, it isn't there.

Sounds a bit like UK2. You have to pay a fee to transfer in (£5-£6) and a fee (£12 I think, though I could be wrong) to transfer out unless the domain has been with them for two years.

To move away you need to apply for a travel out order code, then email support with this and set the change in motion. All very laborious.
