Monthly pageviews target hit

Would like to get up to 1 mil a week. I'm in the process of trying to sort something with DFP

What is clear though, is that in this game your nowt to these people unless doing 5mil plus.. unless you have something very special.

I once spent something like 50k on a site with tens of thousands of views daily. Over time the amount of views didn't decrease but the amount following through did. Over a couple of years I made about 60k but it was really touch and go. Views != clicks != importance, Do you have other goals?

1.4% CTR for Adsense ads isn't bad to be fair

I only say that because the original post said "on my adsense sites"

If the sites were made specifically with adsense in mind, you would hope it was a little better than 1.4%

Maybe I took the wrong meaning and Admin just meant sites with adsense on, because of course it totally depends on a lot of factors how high you might hope the CTR would be

Pageviews are not interesting... now tell us how many hits did you get? :p On a serious note my first goal was to make domains earn me 10 euros per day. A few months later I wanted to earn 100 euros per day. When I finally hit 1000 euros per day in the mid 2000s I wanted to earn 10,000 euros per day. Sadly I never reached that but then, as I'm sure it is now, page views didn't mean squat. Conversions were (and probably still are) the only things that mattered.

How did you make the step to 10 to 100 if you dont mind sharing ? Was it quality or quantity if that makes sense?

Quantity. However overall quantity of conversions not page views. I would rather have a domain with 1000 views 10% conversion at 5 euros than a page with a million pageviews and 1% at 1c. To me we're almost straying into the realms of hits and 'potential'. I would much rather the OP gave the goal of an earning reached than pageviews which are completely abstract and tell us nothing.

1000 euros a day is probably still better than 99.9% of people trying to make a living online. It's the average annual UK salary every month, or thereabouts! In a word: fantastic. So I wouldn't feel too bad about not making the next order-of-magnitude leap...

Not at all was just saying that everyone seems focused on views, likes, visits, links etc people seem to be losing sight of what matters at the end. It reminds me of the old days, and they still use it here in Malta, where people would say 'I have x million hits'. Of course that meant nothing at all. For example I was talking to someone about selling domainview and, at the end of the day, it's revenue and cash that make something worthwhile not how well 'liked' or mentioned it is - or how many pageviews etc.

Well done on your success! It's good to celebrate them. I remember going out for a burger with my top developer when one of our sites made its first £100 in a month. Might sound odd to say it, but doubt I'll forget that occasion.

Yeah OK ...by adsense sites i simply meant all the sites i have which have adsense on them which includes sites like this which are not designed primarily for adsense.

Actually, i agree and this wasnt a primary target its just that I hit this obvious big round number before I hit my main target which is daily income of £100. I've managed that on a couple of days only so far. I had previously set a target of £10 / day. £1000/day blows my mind tbh. Perhaps i need to think bigger.

I've just hit one of my arbitrary targets i set myself... 1 million pageviews in the last 30 days on my adsense sites. Anyone else growing adsense, setting targets, what have you achieved...?

I also set myself targets like this. Although I did read recently that obsession with numbers is one of the signs of being on the asperger's end of the autism spectrum :D

1 million page views per month on one site is my big goal at the moment (so getting there and staying there).

I'm a quarter of the way there with a 22 month old site, and would ideally hoping to be three quarters of the way by the end of 2018 based on current momentum and trajectory.

Have had 2 Adsense accounts banned without a reason over the last couple of years.

Really want to get back using Adsense, just not sure how to get a new account.

Considering opening a new one using my Spanish details, not sure if it would work though.

The second likely banned purely because the first one existed.

Only legit way around it is I believe to create a limited company and start an adsense account in that company name, the idea being that the account belongs to the company and not the individual and should follow the company should the company change ownership.

I wonder how few adsense publishers there are taking over £1000 a day, because you must reach a point around then where it becomes viable to employ somebody experienced to sit and sell ad space directly to advertisers rather than giving Adsense their 32% or whatever its to do it for you.

They were far different times with far higher payouts from sedo and others. I think the same traffic today wouldn't be worth a fraction of that. The days where parking companies were falling over themselves to compete. I remember parking companies sending me (others as well I wasn't special) presents to 'thank' me for the business lol Then their advertisers stopped paying them so much, google slashed payments to everyone, and domains that had been earning up to $1 per click started paying 1c per click. Right place right time as with all bubbles. Also the uk market was relatively untapped.

I'm too young to have experienced the 'domain parking' days with lucrative type-in traffic, unfortunately.

Although not too young to hopefully pick up some .uk gems on d-day 2019, I'm prepping for that already :D

Also in those days google didn't hijack your traffic and people weren't instilled with the mentality of going there to type a domain in just to then click on the domain when it appeared in the results - people actually used their browser bar :p

Nice target. Well done.

And I agree with Martin. I just checked the average for my site and it's 0.8%.

I think my old site was about 1%.

Based on the comments from Murray and your stats, sounds like there's a lot of room to grow just on CTR alone!

His stats include a large forum though.... a CTR of over 1% for a forum would be a miracle. Forums are notoriously difficult to monetise with PPC ads because regular users become ad blind.

So this place will be dragging down his site wide average.
