I'm interested in a .uk, where the right of registration from the .co.uk is expiring in July, and it will go to public registration.

Which catchers are actually taking orders for these? I've gone through all the ones I can find, and most return random error messages, or refuse to take the order because the domain isn't dropping in the usual manner.

If anyone wants me to catch a domain in the July drop - my client has 150 requests per minute. They are opening up to catch domains for 3rd parties. £100 + VAT (subject to the domain not already being requested)

Has anyone put together a list of where you can book a .uk name for the drop? Including large registrars who'll hog most of the rate limits.

@RobM Will you have a solution we can use on our tag?

No. I sent out emails to the people with active hosted chasing a while ago. There are options (free) on this forum if you want to use your tag. Don't forget though nominet have a list of things you have to do, you need to set up a server, and you need to test. I didn't want the headache of writing a new system, a new interface, and dealing with multiple tag tests and fallout when most didn't catch the names they were after or, even worse, if the software didn't work at drop time.

We are taking orders for .UK domains for when they drop from the 1st July. We have met all the requirements of Tier 1 so should get 150 requests per minute. The cost is just £29 per registration and is on first come first served. No post catch auctions.

Payment up front with no option for cash refunds if unsuccessful (per your normal terms), or different in this instance?

Yes that is correct. You can keep the credit to catch another domain.

Hi Simon
If you don't catch the domain is there any time limit on the credit? Also I assume you can keep using the credit until a domain is caught sometime in the future. We used your service a lot many years ago but can't remember how it worked.
Thanks.

Yes that's right - if you didn't catch a domain you may still have credit. Just log in and find out.

I've backordered an absolute ton of .uk domains at a well known (and hated) registrar. Cost £14 each (with discount) but is at least 'first come first serve' rather than the auction style of GoDaddy. Managed to book most of the L and LL domains and a few high value sector domains. Probably all a waste of time given how successful .uk's have been thus far (!!!) but we all knew this would be the case. Let the feeding frenzy begin!

Which one? Checked 123-Reg and can't see anywhere to backorder .uk's and they must be the most hated of them all!

Hi Simon
just set up a new dropcatcher account and booked a domain for .uk release. Couldn't find any of our login details or email used from last time I used your service. It might have been well over 10 years ago!
Thanks

Messaged you guys days ago, got no response. Also, bit cheeky to have bidders strategically or otherwise place bids expecting auctions to end 14th June, only to now extend them to 28th June. Never known of auctions being extended before!!!

Agree with Ian on this, amazed when I got that email.

Next question! A couple of sites aren't listing the (4 char) .uk I'm after - ukbackorder for example says it's not in the nominet list, and catchtiger doesn't list it at all.

It doesn't strike me as super-premium, but I suppose it's only 4 characters. Worth asking Nominet what's happening with these?
