You might have seen the new Browser from the creators of Javascript. The Brave browser actually rewards you for using the browser with BAT or Basic Attention Tokens. Also for people here on Acorn you might like the fact you can earn money from content if your site is registered.

So anyway check out the browser. It's good at blocking rubbish too.

Perhaps I should say:

Lets you earn and generate Tokens - BAT (Basic Attention Tokens)

Any thoughts - has anyone used Brave? And got the tokens?
Followed the journey from their start, the browser is limited and BAT is nothing more than a fund raiser for the company. It basically tries to eradicate advertising and expect the audience to fund websites they otherwise browse for free (and accept watching 5 seconds of an ad is necessary to pay the content creator or business).

It's nice that even with Google and Apple's MASSIVE authority in this niche there are still companies that can break through into the mainstream. Personally I'm stuck with Chrome as it's just good. I'm a macOS user so Safari would be the best option for me but I just can't stick with it, no matter how hard I try!

As an aside, JSEcoin is a British crypto company working in the same browser mining niche. Publishers are rewarded with tokens by including a code snippet on their sites which utilises visitor CPU power for hashing operations. JSE also runs an exchange for the buying and selling of digital advertising space using the built-in tokens. It's a relatively new concept but there are already 27,000 sites signed up.

Thanks for sharing that. Interesting. I've just got an account now and looking at it!

Give Opear a spin... OSX here too, was using Chrome over Safari. Opera has a tilt more towards privacy, and a smaller memory footprint. Also, inline/inbuilt VPN and supports the Chrome extension stack, so your chrome extensions will run on Opera. Honestly... after a while, you won't realise that you aren't in chrome, as they experience in Opera is very similar (render engine wise). You'll just have less memory overhead :)

I have used Opera in the past. Back in the day when phones were GPRS I used to use Operas mobile browser because it had some really good caching and saved loads of data expense! When I was on PC I used it intermittently as a daily browser and I did like it, it just doesn't feel as well developed or maintained as Chrome or Firefox. Maybe things have changed! Whenever I get into this mood of "I feel like a browser change" it always feels exciting to download Firefox and see what it's done since the last time I used it, it usually disappoints me with speed over Chrome so I just don't bother anymore. I'd love to use Safari as it's native, but I just can't justify it's lack of features. I think I'll do a pros and cons list one day when I'm extremely bored, and figure out what exactly I'd be missing by moving away from Chrome.

One thing I do use for Chrome is my payment methods, it's nice to have them autofill.

The original developers of Opera moved onto a new browser project called Vivaldi. Been going for a few years now.

I've never used it intently, but when I did, it seemed rapid.

If only there was a browser I could use to make the browser owner richer whilst using up my cpu and bombarding me with adverts.... that would be a welcome change to all those nasty free functioning browsers out there + adblock. Now I just need an affiliate link and I can buy me a lambo in a few weeks. Oh yes.. did I mention... my idea would use um blockchain for... reasons because nothing functions properly without it - clearly. Come on people - embrace the future - the present doesn't work.

Looks interesting. I've got on quite well with Firefox and a handful of plugins over the years, such as NoScript and the like. In combination with Malware Bytes.
