Sealed Bid auctions at ukbackorder

I think from what I remember of sealed bids in house purchases, the envelopes remains sealed (albeit with a solicitor usually) until the end date (which is firm, not within x minute window) and then disclosed. I'm in favour of this, rather than knowing specifically what the best price is, as ultimately that doesn't matter until the end and shouldn't be used to influence other bids. Seller still needs to be aware of how many bids have been placed during.

They are aware of the amount of bids and which user has the highest at the time of viewing. I understand this may not be everyone's cup of tea so there are public auctions available.

Interesting concept and I can see people wanting to make use of it especially for domains under £50 in value that have failed to sell through other means.

Although comparable, one major difference between this and selling a house under sealed bids is the seller of the house is in no way obliged to accept the highest offer they receive. They are in a position to review all offers and accept whichever one they choose or none at all.

Thanks for your continued efforts.
