I have probably sold more domains than anyone else in the UK market, and as yet no losses and nothing has gone wrong apart from the occasional lost transfer form. In one case I had to send a third transfer form and paperwork to a company on the Isle of Man.

Rather by chance I have come across something which concerns me and could be a storm brewing. As yet I think it is known only to a few and I intend to keep it that way, so I am not going post any details.

I have written to Nominet and they know exactly what I am talking about.

If you follow my advice you should have not have any problems.

I believe that Sedo and Escrow systems are secure for handling domain transactions, but at a cost.

I have never used this company, but they were recommended by another forum user a while ago. Their basic charge seems to be 2.5%

This is going slightly off-subject, but I found it doing a search on escrow services.

"In one case a CAB client from London sold his mobile phone through an Internet auction site. At the auction site’s recommendation the client used an escrow service. After sending the mobile phone to the buyer and collecting payment the client learned that the buyer had used a stolen credit card number. The escrow company then used bailiffs to recover the sales proceeds from the client. The client is now without a mobile phone and has had to both refund the money to the escrow service and pay bailiffs’ costs."
