DNJournal.com have a lot of .co.uk domains listed this week. This one stands out as a great sale - promocodes.co.uk was a cool $30500 - You've got to hand it to nokta - they keep making those big sales.

Being Nokta i'm guessing that this domain was undeveloped ?

That is a massive price

We put an offer on a nice two word domain owned by nokta recently and received a six figure counter offer. It seemed an incredible price for an attractive domain (but not a single word generic) but I suppose every now and then someone counteroffers mid five figures and they make their next big sale. But they have the portfolio size to do this and whilst the big sales keep coming along it makes sense.

I don't know how many times I have looked on Sedo at generics then done a who-is search just to find it's Nokta, their price range is out of my budget but good luck to them if they can do it, they do have some really nice names

One sale like that lets them renew over 3,000 domains for 2 years! They only need a very, very low success rate with that business model to stay profitable and leave their portfolio basically "untouched" at the same time. If I had 50,000 domains I'd probably do exactly the same...

They've not seriously got that many have they ?

Do they buy if you send them a list do you know ?

Thanks 8)

They have much more names than that, and I doubt they buy. Why would they need to when they already have such a MASSIVE inventory? Any aftermarket purchases mess up the profitability math...

Yes Edwin's right - amazing portfolio and amazing the way they hoovered up so many .co.uk domains when Nominet dropped around a million or so domains about 5-6 years ago. Nokta were quick off the mark and were one step ahead of the UK catchers in analysing business sectors and keywords. Of course they didn't get them all and in a way they've made our portfolios more valuable by holding out for decent prices. So we should be thankful they're selling at these levels. They could see the potential in the UK market and now, after waiting a few years they are reaping the benefits.

I do like their bidding offer/counter offer system, very sleek and professional.

There was a great build up of domains that had not been renewed. Eventually they got released over a year or two. I can't remember the actual number but I am sure it was over a million. I'm sure someone on here knows the approx number. It was the golden age of dropcatching - some days hundreds of great domains were dropping and nokta got a big slice of the action.

Springer > Seems to be a big market, I'm glad one went under called backanda, they use to e-mail me about 200 messages per day :(

I now get none, wonder why they went under, maybe they were dodgy, I'm guessing you need to be a SEO expert to get ranked for the related terms.

Thanks for the info / link

ps. why does SEO always get them dots underneath, does admin not want this forum to get ranked for SEO or something ?

Its programmed as an acronym. Hover your mouse over it and it gives the expanded meaning of the TLA.

promotionalcodes.co.uk bought by vouchercodes.co.uk

I was offered it for $20K and said no in 2009 as we run www.discountvouchers.co.uk , obvioulsy Dunc at vc.co.uk thought it was a good deal
