You feeling it Rob?
I see the threads but not seeing any changes on my sites.

Yeah! me too getting some fluctuations for some of my sites / blogs too.

Looks like an udpate is coming soon...

I'm seeing traffic go up, revenue going down, which is somewhat confusuing.

140,000 page views this week on one site, and revenue has fallen by almost half compared to when was hitting 400,000-450,000 pwpm.

I am wondering if my rankings are attracting more 'search to browse' than 'search to buy' people. Its certainly odd.

From Matt Cutts

I think this was a short-term issue and things should be back to normal pretty soon (if not already).

b2net, I don't consider those rankings indicative of anything coming in the future. Some data went into the index without all of our quality signals incorporated, and it should be mostly back to normal and continuing to get back to normal over the course of the day.

surely not! its bearly been a few weeks since the last one

Out of interest, can anybody recommend a good place to keep up to date with major happenings on the Google index?

Thanks
Stephen.

Google.com SERP Changes - November 2008

This is more than a shake up, test, or a bug. this is a complete Goog stuff up of momentus proportions ... If you are running a website then you may have profited or lost heavily all at the whim of Google .. some major websites are nowhere to be found while others of less significance have gained a high page placement ...

Nearly all search terms have been affected, many sub domains and off beat pages have gained placement with google.com (dont know what effect this has had on goog .co.uk)

What i do know is that goog has strategically placed it's own Books.Google.com/books/whatever throughout the index ...

According to those in the know this update is semi permanent until after the New Year, fluctuations will of course occur but it could be with us for some time to come ...

Just goes to show the power of a good type-in domain name ... those that have them will survive without much scaring those that dont are at the mercy of the Google powers that be ...

You beat me to it - it does seem to be an ongoing choice for internet types to where they position themselves as some areas can rise and fall at the whim of google. This has always been the case, but with margins being tight some areas will be wiped out completely.

Most domainers have gone from parking to minisites and the like, but to stay ahead of the curve you need to be one or two steps ahead.

Where will the internet be in 3-5 years time and where will you be, google aint going anywhere thats for sure!
