On August 16—19, 2026, it.com Domains joined Domain Summit 2026, which was held in Kempten, Germany. Alessandro Baruffi, Director of International Partnerships, and Rolandas Japertas, Business Development Manager, represented our company at the event.
Domain Summit is an international event for domain industry professionals, focused primarily on meaningful business connections and partnership development. Founded in London by Helmuts Meskonis, Founder of Domain Summit and an Advisor of it.com Domains, the event has expanded its presence to different regions over the years, bringing together domain registries, registrars, hosting companies, security experts, lawyers, and investors.
In Kempten, the event brought together approximately 65 participants, including representatives of registries and registrars, hosting and security companies, lawyers, and investors. The limited format created space for more open communication and a deeper exchange of opinions.
This year, key discussion topics included the impact of AI (artificial intelligence) on the domain market, the future of domain investments, trust in domain names, and the upcoming New gTLD (generic top-level domain) Round. Participants discussed how AI is already changing domain evaluation and acquisition processes and why, as AI search matures, the role of a domain name may shift from a traffic-driving tool to an important element of brand trust.
Special attention was given to the next round of the New gTLD Program. Amidst the preparation of over 1,600 applications, participants discussed the factors that will determine the success of new domain extensions, including pricing, security, user trust, and the ability to create a sustainable ecosystem around the extension. The impact of AI on future domain demand and the development of the domain aftermarket was also touched upon.
The it.com Domains team actively participated in the business program and meetings with other market participants. The team discussed current changes in the industry, shared experiences with partners, and sought new opportunities for collaboration.
Networking played a key role in the program. The Domain Summit’s informal format from meetings and discussions to joint social activities allowed participants not just to exchange professional perspectives but also to establish closer business connections. For it.com Domains, these meetings provided an opportunity to better understand the changing needs of registrars, registries, investors, and other participants in the domain ecosystem.
