Free SEO - the results

I hope admin doesn't mind posting this after the first 2 threads ended in chaos, I've picked the 3 sites, the details are below, the links will be built hopefully over the weekend, results will be posted here as and when there is something to report.

If you'd submitted a site and it hasn't been chosen, my apologies, I wanted to try and get a mix of sites.

Remember it's just a one off process of building 20 links to each. For clients we'd build more than 20 and over a period of time, so don't expect to see these fly into no.1.

Site 1: babyshop (belongs to roydovaston and is the co_uk)
Keyword phrase is : nursery equipment
currently ranks: page 7 (have also seen it on page 9 and page 10 if anyone wants to check and post what you see).

Chosen because the keyword phrase isn't an exact match for the domain, and the keyword phrase doesn't appear in the title, H1, etc.

Site 2: horoscopes (belongs to Scott Smith and is the org_uk)
keyword phrase is: horoscopes
currently ranks: nowhere, not in Google at all (and again if anyone wants to check it's ranking)

chosen to show it works for an exact match domain, even very generic one word phrases, plus it's very competitive.

Site 3: whatdoesmynamemean (belongs to alien and is the co_uk)
keyword phrase: what does my name mean
currently ranks: bottom end of page 4 (have also seen it on page 5, again if anyone wants to check the ranking)

chosen to show that it works for longer tailed keywords, again it's an EMD.

So there's 2 EMDs, one 1-word and one 1 longer tail phrase, plus a non-EMD for a quite competitive term. 2 are co_uk's, one is an org_uk

I'll post up when the links have been built, I'll leave it to the site owners/anyone else to post rankings for them.

Babyshop - Page 7 for: Nursery Equipment

Horoscopes - Not in top 20 pages for: Horoscopes - Is indexed by google.

WhatDoesMyNameMean - Page 4 for: What does my name mean

None of them rank in google.com or Yahoo.

Be interesting to see the results, but I'm assuming that little SEO work has been done on these sites. How about including a site where someone has had SEO success to a certain stage but then plateaued in the rankings?

Remember though we only built 20 links in an ultra competitive niche, we haven't done anything except build 20 links to 2 sites.

I'd imagine he's been building links like a mentalist since, AND he's completely redesigned his site, so it's not as though things have remained static.

We did one thing it caused a shift in results, he did something else it caused another shift.

It's generally how things go.

To be fair to Lee - That design has been in the works since way before your link building and I think he knew that it wasn't very secure in its position and he was intending to secure it anyway.

Not to undermine what you did though - 20 links shifting around top results is still impressive, looking forward to these results and reading the future publication.


Also, not sure whether you have started but I felt it would be worth counting the current links to show that its still effective even when a site already has many links. I used yahoo site explorer:

babyshop - 100 links
horoscopes - 6 links
whatdoesmynamemean - 17,930 links (from Aliens neighbours from hell site)

I did manage to rank it top 5 for a little while before google got wind of my tactics and dumped me.
Interested to see how this goes anyway may take up your services on my related .eu in the same sector

Not sure if the links have been completed but daily traffic has begun to increase and also the site now ranks bottom of Page 2 Google for the term "what does my name mean".

yes yours are just about done now, still working on horoscopes.

Sorry it's ended up being a bit hotch potch, just had an incredibly busy week when I'd planned to build them - the best laid plans and all that.

I just checked "nursery equipment" again and the site's not coming up anymore. Is it fluctuating or has it been nuked?
