That said, i did think the offerings on Fiverr looked very interesting.

All you can conclude from your test or my own, is that bad quality links can move sites up for non competitive phrases.

The problem with your "test" is that:

a) we don't really know where your site was beforehand, whereas with mine we did know exactly where they were;
b) we don't know what else has been done to your site, whereas with mine we knew nothing had been done to them;
c) The site we did for nursery equipment had no optimisation whatsoever for that phrase, whereas yours has (title, etc);
d) we did 20 links, you've done considerably more;

As pointed out at the start, this isn't a measure of social bookmarking links, rather whether a small number of links can move a site if the links are what Google wants to see.

While you mention that nursery equipment is a phrase no one searches for, which is debatable, payday loans most certainly is, as is horoscopes which is now half way up page 2, what does my name mean is top of page 2, we've done it for scrap gold, car finance, holiday rentals, wedding presents, and a variety of other very competitive terms.

I think that it's a case of he doth protesteth too much - someone who is no.1 for payday loans worrying about whether it's going to be easy for other people to knock him off the no.1 spot without a lot of effort.

Otherwise why would he even bother commenting if he really didn't think it worked?

He should just be sat there chuckling to himself, not actively participating, but then again we all saw how shocked he was when he dropped like a brick.

And as Chippy mentioned, he's tried 100 bookmarking links and seen no results whatsoever, so do we really believe what "postman jackson" tells us when he says he built only social bookmarks to his site?

He has a vested interest in playing down any successful ideas to look after his own interests, while the rest of us want to help each other to do better.

Decide for yourselves, and if you think what we're doing has no merit then do something else instead.

I deliberately chose the same keyword you did so it would clearly be a new result - I am sure anyone following the results would be able to see that it was a new entry in top couple of pages.

Its not my site so I don't control what else happens with it, but it would be a huge coincidence if the owner of a poorly promoted site suddenly started to build links in the same day that I chose his site to test bookmarking.

That is irrelevant since the phrase is so uncompetitive.

Also irrelevant. You should look at it from a time/money angle. My test cost me 5 minutes and £20 - £30 so how many links the spammer done for me for that doesn't really matter does it.

But I just proved the opposite, its nothing to do with your links actually being any good. Its just any links at all will show slight movements.

Anyone can go look in the backlinks of the site I chose. You can sit there and accuse me of secretly building extra links to inflate my test results - but anything I could have done there, you could have done also. So if my test is irrelevant because of this, then yours must be also.

I don't have any real vested interest in this, regardless of what you think. I don't agree with "while the rest of us want to help each other to do better." though. You are attempting to disguise a sales pitch as some sort of scientific testing. You are here to help yourself, not anyone else. Your dishonest testing is proof of that.

I think you would be doing yourself a favour if you just stopped trying to pretend this is something that it isn't. Its a sales pitch for low end link building. Why not just post a price and start taking customers…. your "testing" is impressing nobody.

I think anyone with any common sense will take what I am saying at face value, it is easy to check the backlinks and see that I'm telling the truth though. I will be surprised if you can find any recent non social bookmarking link building to that test site. You just seem to be trying to deflect from the fact that I easily replicated your results with no time or money spent.


If anyone thinks I have any reason to alter the test results, then you should run your own test. Choose a non competitive phrase, and select a site from page 3 to 6 of the results. Buy a batch of links from http://www.wlmarketing.com/ and see what happens. Don't tell anyone what you are doing and then you will be certain the results are valid I would do it again myself but its pointless. I am wasting £30 to prove something I already know and Dashu is going to discredit my results by saying I tampered with them. So everyone who has interest in this should go test test test, and the truth will become apparent.

Right oh, my order for 20 bookmarks is done for Cartoon Characters, it cost $5.

Will see how if affects results. I was on Page 1 Google for 'cartoon characters' up until a week or so ago and for some reason I've dropped to Page 2. Will see what happens.
