Thanks for letting me join the forum, I have my L plates on as I really have no idea what I am doing. When the .wales domains came out the government and official companies etc got the chance to reserve theirs and 2 weeks later at noon we was allowed to choose ours of course by 1pm the websites had crashed and we was in Limbo but hey we got through it to tell the story. So yes I have invested in the .wales domains as really it says exactly what its meant to somewhere.wales something.wales for instance Newquay in England is very well known and takes up most of the top of Search Engines, those searching for Newquay or New Quay Wales could find newquay.wales appear. Also its good for any business whats your website address newquay dot wales very easy to remember and more relevant then .co.uk or.com so yes very exciting and much like a private registration plate each url is a one off. I am happy to chat with anyone with similar ideas, this doesnt have to be just me, thanks

Just to update this I am a mere private investor doing this as a sideline, just not very good at these introduction thingies and what to write!!

Welcome to the forum :)

Can't quite make you out..... are you a private domain investor, who has bought alot of .wales domains, or are you someone involved in running the .wales registry?

I know New Quay well, and it always confuses people when I say I'm off to New Quay, they think Cornwall, but no, its in Welsh Wales. Best Fish and Chips in Wales can be bought at the chippy there.

Thanks Spider Spider

Still finding my way around on here so thanks for the reply, yes I am just a private person that has just changed direction over night and yes its all exciting really because wales is very much its own, yes its a gamble but then isnt life, I am sure if I hadnt gambled the money then the kids would have smoked or drunk it all when I die so I have actually done them a favour, and yes any that do sell will be brilliant. Its my first ever gamble but so many of the big companies are using the .wales that hey it stands a chance I think

Hi Scott

Thanks for the welcome, no giggling or sniggering please but I purchased 1043 but some of them are for private use as well

Hi Invincible, I have advertised no domains at all for sale, I have been working on the website over Christmas & the New Year and have found someone now that has got time to start promoting the, hence me joining here today to see what the next steps are if one ever does get sold and it all seems pretty straight forward. As for the posting count I have no idea about that, this is the only posting I have done although have sent 2 private messages about purchasing 2 names for sale. Thanks

Maybe the admin arent letting me move in, although reading through some of the postings they are funny and quickly pass time, some bloke purchased something cos he saw it on Eastenders and someone asked when .cotton was being released, great to see you all have a sense of humour!!

If you want a good price on renewing these in March let me know: andrew[at]netistrar.com

We are ICANN accredited and can get .wales .cymru at cost price

Thats brilliant, we only went with 123-reg because it came up with limited companies doing .wales & .cymru, I have dealt with BT and Easily and neither were doing it at the time. 123-reg were really good though and do help you 1 to 1 but they only resell .com names hence me learning to do this myself, but wow people have been fab on here.

How much are typical renewal fees for .wales? I only registered one .wales domain and I renewed it the other day at Domain Monster, that cost €24.59, I'm guessing it might be a fair bit cheaper at other registrars. I wouldn't fancy owning 1043 names at that sort of renewal fee.

It was £10.99 for 1 year at 123-Reg but Andrew from Netistrar.com is saying he can better that (see an earlier reply)

Yes just had a look its £10.99 per year with options up to 10 years but even then its still £109.90 so yes no discounts however you do it with them

So you're facing a potential £10,000+ renewal bill, unless you can get a better rate (I have forgotten what the actual registry to registrar wholesale price of .wales/.cymru is). Are you looking to invest outside of this extension? :)

Hi, Yes thats what I paid first time round although have only just had time to look at all this so they have just sat there doing nothing. Now I am aware that there are other options I will look in to them obviously if it does the same thing but cheaper then I would be silly not to.

As for other extensions, really not sure, I believe in .wales because I live here and know how much wales means to everyone, thats not to say they will pay for it obviously, but yes reflecting that you are a part of wales rather then .co.uk or .com is indeed a nice idea and with the fact that .wales is a whole word rather then yes to me it makes sense, will I regret this gamble well ask me in a couple of years!!

Not to worry if I dont get my post count I have learnt stuff and got to know people which is fab seeing as I didnt think anyone would reply so thanks to those that have

Good old Nominet haven't figured out what a scaling discount is yet!

Welcome to Acorn; think you are brave taking on this extension; do they even have the Internet in Wales? :D

If you do renew for 10 years though at least that's 9 years they can't screw you with their inevitable no reason price rises.
