Anyone else having problems?

Seems like their connectivity is suffering again, now at 28% packet loss :(

Hi there,

Nope, not down.

I've been open with you all through this saga and I'm not going to hide now. Everything is very slow at the moment. Painfully so.

Everything is slow apart from what we are doing to solve this infernal problem. We are pushing things through at an unheard-of rate of knots. To up server bandwidth takes a great deal of time and investment and normally weeks, months etc. We've managed to get within a whisker of implementing it in a matter of hours.
I'm sure you can understand how frustrating this is for us, having worked for months to get recognition in the market and then, in one week, all this happens.

At any rate, we are now one last step away from increasing our bandwidth five-fold. This last step is effectively just a final 'OK' but could take 10 minutes or a few hours. We are doing everything we can to make this happen as fast as possible. Once we have the new bandwidth up, our pages will be humming again and snap onto the page as they once did.

.... if there are any of you still around to see them.

Stick with us folks, you'll remember why you did once this not particularly enjoyable episode is over.

Email me at [email protected] if you have any more questions.

I suppose you're getting bored of me thanking you for your support by now. At the beginning of this week, we were learning to walk without having to ask for patience and support. We are hoping to be back to that stage before any of you have a chance to reply on here. Though that may be wishful thinking. This is a matter of hours, if not half-hours. Please bear with us.

Thank you.

Ed

Well, this doesnt look good;

11. POS1-0.XR1.TOR3.ALTER.NET 2% 181 183 95 94 95 107
12. 195.ATM9-0-0.GW1.WND1.ALTER.NET 0% 183 183 100 99 112 314
13. nextd-gw.customer.alter.net 11% 163 183 194 105 182 290
14. 216.94.41.117 40% 111 183 200 111 199 346 <---- 40% packet loss. :(

That is certainly true.

What is not true is that I said 'we will be increasing our bandwidth five fold.' It's actually six fold. I just wish it was happening at this very second.
This has been a tough week, but, once the bandwidth's up, we can get back to focusing on the things which really matter.

Hi there everyone.

Everything is going on apace. I have to correct myself in saying that we will get 5 times the bandwidth. We shall actually get 6 times the bandwidth! This is never going to happen to us again. Better to be caught short (despite optimistic projections) in the 2nd week than to have a disaster come December.

As the final part of implementing massive amounts of new bandwidth (and thanks to an unprecedented amount of co-operation from Google), the system will go down for 15-30 minutes as of immediately (9.55pm BST). Once everything is back up again, we can begin to look forward again!

We can't thank you enough for your patience and co-operation.

We're back! Zippier than ever!

Enjoy seeing how fast our pages are now! But make sure you're wearing a helmet...

Hi All,

Overall, I impressed with NameDrive which I have been trying out on some of my domains. For the first 10 days, earnings for almost all my domains have been higher than a comparable period on Sedo - some 5 or 6 times more :)

One thing I have noticed however, is since 11 Sept the Ave EPC figures seems to be being 'capped' at $0.10 (in a few cases lower). Previously, most Ave EPC figures have been higher, some as high as $3.136. Here are the Ave EPC figures for one domain, where the figures for 11th to 15th do stand out. A similar pattern can be seen with other domains.

Sep 15th, 2005 US$ 0.1
Sep 14th, 2005 US$ 0.1
Sep 13th, 2005 US$ 0.1
Sep 12th, 2005 US$ 0.1
Sep 11th, 2005 US$ 0.1
Sep 10th, 2005 US$ 0.204
Sep 9th, 2005 US$ 0.2178
Sep 8th, 2005 US$ 0.1852
Sep 7th, 2005 US$ 0.2669
Sep 6th, 2005 US$ 0.3425
Sep 5th, 2005 US$ 0.1047
Sep 4th, 2005 US$ 0.205
Sep 3rd, 2005 US$ 0.186
Sep 2nd, 2005 US$ 0.066

Is this some kind of 'capping' or default EPC, as it does seem odd? Is it related to ND's recent problems? Has anyone else noticed similar patterns since 11 Sept?

regards
David

Hi there David,

Very glad to hear that you're doing so well. Let's hope it continues in that way.

To be honest, this DDOS attack cost us a massive amount of time and I have to say, when you know what machinations (spelling...) have been going on in the background, our tech guys have done an amazing job on getting us, not only up and running, but also implementing the new bandwidth to keep things permenantly up and running.
As a result, updating the revenue (I'm sure the 48 hour 0.1$ revenue delay is known to you all now) has been forced to a back seat. We are concentrating today on fixing the revenue, both for 'normal' days and for the 'compensating' days. This has been a crazy week and I think the stats that are being shown should be far from taken as indicative of your domains' and our system's performance. As far as compensation is concerned, we are going to aim to pay 10% above what we believe you would've earned. Your staying power has been amazing and we want to show how much we appreciate that.

It feels like a New Beginning and I'm chuffed to bits to see all the support, both here and by email. Things are certainly on the up.

Thanks to GJM for the post as well. I did receive one slightly confused email asking whether he was saying that we are or will be tieing people to contracts to park with us.

Just to make things clear: we will never require you to sign a parking contract with us in order to receive preferential treatment!
You are all our biggest customers and we try to treat everyone like that from people with domains as poor as myself to the kings of the market!

I am in Belgium, as GJM stated in the other post. I have found the most expensive internet cafe in Europe, so I will be popping in now and then to keep a check on things. However, if you have anything that needs to be addressed urgently (before Sunday PM), then please send it to [email protected] or [email protected] and it will be dealt with straight away.

Thanks for all your support everyone. I'll be back in proper contact at the end of the weekend, but don't let that put you off emailing us if you have any questions.

Yes, we were down for a short while this afternoon. Everything's working fine again now though.
