They are really going for it at the moment. Just went to do a domain registrant transfer. Not only have they removed it as an option from the main screen after login...the site is hideous, less legible and harder to read than before. Everying is pastel, light shades and unclear. This is the opposite of progress. Do they do testing or even listen to anyone?

Really falling out with them.

I'd agree it isn't the nicest of control panels, the text is definitely less clear and moving various options around is not helpful at all! I very much doubt they consult anyone before doing it!

It's a bag of shite! Just done a transfer myself, 50% of the time the domain manager fails to load the domain list:

We've encountered an error!!

Thanks Nominet!

Just had a look and that is some bloody horrible colour scheme they've changed it to.

Why do people use pale colours like the blue they've used for the links and the domain list, on a light background? Then there's the text, most of which is a lightish shade of grey and is hard to read, why not use black as the colour. I can hardly see a thing unless I hit the + key 3 times to zoom in, there was no need to change anything, it was fine as it was.

Does anyone know where the registrant transfer now resides, the old £10 + vat one I mean?

At least you all can see where all the monopoly money Nominet gets is going...

Click domain manager link from the bottom of the front page, wait 3 hours for the domain list to load, search for/find the domain, tick the box and click transfer.

Or

Wait for the domain list to load, click the bulk changes button, then click 'per domain' and type the domain(s) in the box, click upload then click transfer domains.

You have to go into the Domain List and the option is now at the bottom...you also need to change it from 5 records per page to a maximum of 30 per page...madness, do they think we are all on 56k dial-up still and can't handle a few k of additional characters!!!! This is a company looking to future tech ha

I dread to think what they've done to the registrant transfer on the receiving side!

Thanks Grant, I thought that was the domain list they had on there before so I didn't check there, at least the list loaded straight away for me.

Having done a little digging, it's not quite that bad... If you go to "Web domain manager" then ignore the domains themselves and instead click the "Transfer" option in the row of buttons across the page, you're faced with the familiar form (the one in which you can paste up to 300 domains you want to transfer)

But just like the initial log-in link, it's now a number of clicks and scrolls away rather than one.

Spot on about the colour scheme BTW - maybe they're still testing on old blocky CRT displays which tend to show colours more brightly than on LCD screens!

That's not the normal transfer initiation page Edwin, that's the one where you input new contact details etc.

Maybe one of their "friends" is a budding designer and they gave them the million pound project.

A certain bank, which recently split into 2 banks, the CEOs' misses saw herself as an interior designer, so when the deal with another bank went bump, they decided refresh some of the branches.

The bank uses blue and white quite heavily in their colour scheme, so she decided YELLOW flooring, ripping up proper wooden flooring and replacing it with yellow plastic tiles would be good. Paining skirtings dark grey with white walls and cream window sills. She also went with ORANGE chairs for the customer side which sits on blue carpets and yellow tiles.

I'm sure if you bank with one of these banks which got a refurb about 3 yrs ago you know which I mean, but yeah inside deal for ya :)

Sorry, I see what you mean.

Here's how to pull up the old-style transfer form (I put it here for my own reference as much as anything!)

1. Log in
2. Under the "Services" pull-down, select "Domain Manager"
3. Click the "Bulk Changes" button
4. Click on "Per domain" to expand the section
5. Enter the domain(s) you want to transfer in the form box that appears
6. Click "Upload"
7. That unlocks a button marked "Transfer domain(s)" - click on this to proceed with the old-style paid transfer

I think you've got a similar amount of domains to me Edwin, is the 'Domain Manager' list of domains loading correctly for you? Mine takes forever and errors half the time.

Cheers, Grant

It's worked on 3 out of 3 tries.Perhaps that has something to do with it?

Cheers Edwin, will give it a try tomorrow with a different browser.

In general, I've found that Chrome is faster than Firefox for sites with a lot of "functionality", with IE a very very distant third.

Jesus, don't you lot know anything about design and usability ;) These colour schemes are called 'muted brights' and its all about 'discovery'..
