surveys, white paper or top 10? Need attract potential clients

I've been working within PPC for several years now, and I'm interested to start freelancing.

The issue is that my cold calling skills or not quite good Therefore I need to find an alternative solution, which would be gathering leads and try to convert those in the near future.

I'm interested to know a bit more about what kind of offer you think would trigger the interest of potential clients?

How about going to business events to find potential clients, e.g.

When I went to the A4UExpo a few years ago I bumped into a few PPC specialists too.

This is easy - use a soft sell (share expertise via a blog).

Industry specific works really well.
