Hello guys,

I have been asked to give a price for this domain.

From researching various websites, i think a realistic price to get would be £3-5k

Would you agree?

:pa

Thanks

Paul

Now, i'm new at selling domains.

Should i go with Sedo.com or someone like that, or just transfer the domain myself?

(i think the boss will like that estimate!)

Step 1 is find a buyer... ;)

Someone has already inquired about purchasing the domain

Good stuff :)

Step 2 ... hope they have £5k not £5 (this is often the tricky bit!)

This is being looked into.

The likelihood is that it is a large company.

If not, wel.co.uk could be a wanted site for other businesses (especially W.E. Ltd etc) so i will hold out for 4 figures.

Yup - its a solid name , let us know how you get on (and admin can put the price on domainprices.co.uk if not NDA'ed)

good luck :)

Any ideas for my PERSONAL domain (mini1.co.uk - see other post)

As i could actually get some money for that one - wel.co.uk is for the company i work for!

So once we have agreed a price - what stages should i do next?

1. Make a (i agree to purchase for ... document - signed)
2. Get money
3. Once money is with us, forward the domain onto their site
4. Send the nominet papers away
5. Anything else?

At the moment, the domains are with Pipex. What do the new owners do - can they just go though them?

Help would be greatly appreciated.

Yes 1-4 sounds fine, you will need to get a IPS-TAG transfer from PIPEX to the new ISP of the buyer (if it is not pipex).

Then once nom process the forms the legal and technical control will be with the new owner.

Is this straightforward - are there any hidden charges?

Thanks very much for all your help.

This site has inspired me to buy up some domains, setup some parking and watch the pennies roll in! (or so i hope!)

I have got an idea for a specific type of advertising site, so it it gets off the ground, i will let you know how it gets on!

£35 quid to transfer a domain , payable to Nominets Xmas Piss Up Fund / Naomi Campell / The Golden Toilet Co depending who you believe around here ;)

Generally the rule of thumb with domainers (as they are a tight bunch!) is the buyer pays fees, however if talking £5k for a name it would do no harm to drop in a cheque when you post them the forms.

As for buying up names... thats a whole new ball game ;)

I was wondering - can people REALLY make money out of these affiliate sites, and how many (domains) are need for a nice (on the side) money - say £2k a year or something?

And is it easy-peasy?

Obviously domain name choice is a priority in this game.

Any help guys?

You only need 1 decent affiliate site to make good money.

Domain name is not that important IMO sure it helps depends what your doing I guess.

"And is it easy-peasy?"

For me no problem, its all about what you put into it.

It all comes down to relevant traffic at the end of the day. There are two main ways a site gets traffic.
1. A generic domain that people will get to either by typing it into the address bar or searching for that domain in a search engine (lots of people do this as strange as it sounds)
2. A domain that gets traffic from scoring well in the search engines for a number of search terms.

The first one is the easiest to do but you will find it difficult to get one domain that would produce any significant revenue so you would need a large number of these unless you want to spend thousands to get a good one.

The second option means much more work but you could easily earn £2,000 per year from one website.

The first option is easy if you have a good eye for domain names and/or a good drop catching script.

The second option is easy once you learn all about web design & promotion but expect to spend about 1 year before you see any worthwhile results.

Ok I will explain mate, a good example would be having vodafone.co.uk and selling mobile phones of it.

Hope this helps :)

Aah, i get - i was looking for the 3rd option.

Me being dense and not re-reading the post!
