i f**king hate TAG NAMES ! with the value of there portfolio why dont they just pay reg fees .. AAARRRRHHH! thoughtit was too good to be true on Friday 27 Tag names at last count ive know givenup

I had quite a few suspended TagNames domains booked recently, that yet again were renewed well past the allocated time period for us mere mortals (e.g. billy.co.uk). It just seems to be a complete waste of time trying to catch their names, as they never drop!

Obviously they must be given some kind of preferential treatment?! ;) All very confusing and on the face of it, it looks unfair?! :D

I had that one booked too :)

They just renewed a load of names that were well past the drop dates. No idea how they get away with it..

Ahhhhhh, must be the funny handshake club then?! ;)

After all nominet are a not for profit, It would never have anything to do with determing the salaries and bonuses of senior executives etc , they would not want to keep one of there largest customers happy

That's what happens when you don't rock the boat on NomSteer :p

how far can you actually rock a boat before it sinks????? answers on a postcard to nominet

If you want to participate, you have to tell it the way it is. I'm wondering when the latest PAB report will be published. Rob? Is there a finiite date?

Very true Dale, unfortunately some people think there is a right and dignified way to walk into the slaughter house, some however put up a bit of struggle.

Conversely has anyone had issues of service from Nominet based on being er 'vocal' ? There are quite a few 'loud' types on there but I dont think they have suffered ?

I am more than interested in any specifics though as if Nominet *are* doing what you imply it is quite wrong.

Sadly no definate date, however *has* to be before the next meeting for obvious reasons! Usually a draft is sent out to the PAB a couple of weeks after the meeting, then PABers can review it prior to the meeting.

This might seem odd, however there has been issues about people wanting comments attributed / not attributed etc

Silly and trite, I know: WHEN is a definitive DAC access policy going to be announced? I know it's only several months of 'changeabout' but some of us would like to know the PAB recommendations/advisory. I don't appreciate the stagnant 'hare and hounds' mentality.

I'd disagree mate, look at how they treated Andrew Bennett and Deleting.co.uk and Andrew Bennett in more issues than that as well, now compare that at how they are treating Tagnames.

I am almost certain that if Tagnames had been on Nomsteer kicking up a fuss and pointing out thing like the LTIP and other leadership issues over the last 10 years like Andrew, then zero tolerance may have been applied to him as well.

I for one have never suffered personally but I don't put myself in a position to be affected by Nominet. My business models and income is 90% seperate from and outside the controls of Nomland.

Rob, you need to quote your 'stand' and get off the freaking fence I see you on MSN and not answering. What is it with you?

Dale to be fair to Rob he is a straight guy and has no agenda either way. He is one who I am more than glad is on the PAB.

If a condition of his place on the PAB is in confidentiality in whatever is decided on the PAB then he is right to stick to it.

I for one am anti Nominet's Board because of certain actions, that's where I openly stand.

Nothing is 'with' me, I am on my laptop downstairs while I am messing about with twitter accounts. My main PC is logged into MSN upstairs :)

Apologies for not instantly replying to Acorn threads, I will try to work harder at 11:40pm on a Saturday to be in two places at once.

As for my 'stand' ? I have explained what and how the PAB works what more can I say on that?

You want the PAB policy recomendation, I answered you previously saying you will have to wait for the meeting report and resolutions for that. You then ask when that will be, I answered that as well?

Where am I sitting on the fence?!

Graeme - I agree. But I still ask the question about the latest PAB report. WHEN??? And Rob is a domainer. But straight. Stiill a domainer.

Thanks, and thats where I feel I am - I take the role on the PAB seriously and that involves considering all areas rather than 'representation' of a single area.

I personally think Deleting.co.uk and Andrew Bennett was a seperate issue rather than the implied revenge , likewise much of the arguement over that was I believe (wrongly? it was a while ago) based on what defines a non-substative part of the nominet registry. Oddly enough thats one area that has been nailed down quite tightly recently....

I answered the question up there ^ - I DONT KNOW! :)

Its a crap answer but there is no specific date when meeting reports are published. I am personally frustrated sometimes with it, and I know others are as well and a few have raised the issue.

I explained the process, and the reasoning behind it. Again, personally I dont give two hoots what bits are attributed to me, if I say something I have said it! There are some who for personal/professional/electoral reasons dont like / like their names attributed to stuff.

That is just one reason off the top of my head to why its not a speedier process - there are a few more.

You don't know. I you don't, then you should bloody-well ask. We as members have a right to know.
