Playing with undeveloped.com

I anyone else experiencing massive delays in communication when using dan.com ??
Communicating with staff? Yep, their '3 hour response' was more like 2 days last time I reached out.

As an aside, handy tip, if you are made an offer and you want to know more, contact them and within data protection limits, they will give you an idea who the potential buyer might be. Useful if they end up being an end-user company within an associated industry ;)

I'm going to give undeveloped/dan a try and I'm on the sign up page. Is it best to use your own name or maybe register under a domain sale url you might have (Do you represent a company) gives another drop down for company name?

Regards, Jim.

Can you elaborate this? Give us an example. Because recently I am fed up with tyre-kickers who want and think a domain should be valued max GBP100.

So when an offer comes in, drop Dan/Undeveloped a message asking for more information on the buyer. In one particular instance I had, the guy worked for a media company in Australia, and it was a media domain, so I knew at least that it may be a genuine offer and gives some idea how best to approach a counter offer. Apart from telling you the email address or name of the company, Dan/Undeveloped can be very useful for hinting at size of operate, how you might find who the person in through third party platforms etc.

I already do that myself without dan. If you search the name in LI you have a high chance to find him directly but that does not change him to be a tyre-kicker. I once found the potential buyer who is a high level manager in mickey mouse film company, who perplexed by my $1,000 offer.

All true, but I'd rather be fully informed than not at all.

What is the benefit of Dan vs something like DomainManage?

What do you get for the 9% commission

To stop that from happening you should simply go into your control panel and default 'ALL' offers above your minimum offer threshold e.g. $1,000 - That way no time is then being wasted on either side. (Just a thought)

That does not work. If you do that you create an impression that the price is $1,000, which is not true.

Good luck with getting that much. Bradbury.co.uk is completely unused, there is no demand for it. I was gonna use it for personal emails. Was willing to negotiate with your type (though through gritted teeth) but if you are going to be ridiculous, pricing things with 0 research then suit yourself.

I mean, I suppose in this case you are the expert. But I do think 3.6k is egregious. So I dunno I guess around £100? Though I have no frame of reference. I suppose you normally do the back and forth bartering? Should we just make offers until we agree?

Damn, well maybe someday ill be loaded enough to throw that money your way. Though I imagine you'll be waiting a while. Though the domain was for my partner but I doubt she'll have that surname for much longer anyway. Good luck out there.

I think this 2005 hard-baller approach is a negative way to negotiate with buyers which just results in lost sales and negative rep for domainers. When it's on DL for £150 in a few months time you may regret...

A low offer doesn't always mean time waster if they're uneducated.

Hi JMI

Thanks for the advise. However, I can understand whether a potential buyer is a time-waster or an end-user in micro seconds; from his first offer, from his registration from short closed name or full open name in Dan, from time-intervals between his offers etc etc. So I would prefer to drop that name to sell for GBP100 to a time-waster who first says he will use it for his personal email and than as a gift to his partner.

Thanks for the advise again.

That does not work. If you do that you create an impression that the price is $1,000, which is not true.

It may be a good idea for you to bulk edit domains e.g. Any domain you’re happy to sell for £1k or above, same with £5k domains, then jump to £10k bulk edit and so on..

I’ve done the above and it works really well as it totally removes the lowball offers, plus saves loads of time in the long run.

For example: I won’t sell www.pinned.com for 10k, however, if I get an enquiry based on my minimum offer threshold (10k) , it shows me the buyer is serious and understands domains have value!

You have to remember, wording is key.. and when people make an offer on your domain which by default has a min offer applied, that wording on DAN displays as “ Your offer must be higher than $10,000 “ - To me that doesn’t say you’re going to sell the domain at this figure, it simply says if you want to play ball this is your entry level.

I know you may have hundreds / thousands of domain, but if you just take time to blast through the list you’ll save time in the long run batman
