Has something happened in the domain industry that I don't know of? There seems to be a lot of people suddenly liquidating their domaion names. :(

    What have I missed?

There's a lot of folks getting rid of relatively marginal names... but I haven't seen many strong names up for sale - no more than usual, anyway.

I have always sold collections of domain names, have done since 1997. Sold over 8,000 domain names since I started trading in domain names.

Largest collection in one sale was for 2,000 domains.

    Regards,

    Laura

Indeed if you look at most of the domain names for sale then a lot are very low in quality and personally theres only a very few reasonable domain names that I have seen worth purchasing.

A lot are registered years ago parked and done nothing and costing money in re reg fees.

So in respects if I had 2,000 domain names not earning money and are domain names that are good for years ago but not good now then best to offload.

If you look at some of the threads people are trying to offload crazyfrog domain names.

When crazyfrog was popular then this might have been worth the money, now its just worth a fiver.

I just I would say brought but I got free with my hosting package a ringtones domain name which I'm working on now or trying too but this beer keeps flowing and still feels like holidays due to the bank holday.

The domain is worth a fiver for the name but I hopefully will make my money back on it via sales.

Towerbridge - I wasn't having a go at you or any other specific domainer for that matter - it was just that the sales board has been very quiet for the last few weeks and has suddently exploded in the last couple of days.

I was just curious as to whether I had missed some bit of news :)

It is busy but 99% of the names offered are crap. Perhaps people are waking up and realising?

I miss the easy money too with that frog.

I'm selling because I need money but as always, you can't sell to domainers and they don't tell you what they want to buy or they tell you but it's "oh not now, maybe later, see how it goes...". Yes well thanks to you an'all.

And I'm also selling because deleting has been shut down, can't keep old stock if I have no new so I have to get rid of three quarters of what I hold but I hope to get money for it, so if you know anyone who has any respect and knows what they want to buy, ask them to get in touch, I prefer dealing with people on the spot rather than playing these little games.

I need money today, not tomorrow. Want domains cheap buy 'em cheap, now.

    Cheers

The thing is though, that crap brought me over £1000 the other week, this week can't sell nothing. Not even the good.

Yes and what exactly did you spend your 135 x £6 on in a month? top of the world generics I bet. Marginal, is that what you put on your toast in the morning? before you slate others, take a look at your own.

All looks good from here - £17k deal sorted last week.

Usual rules apply, if its a good name it will sell for decent prices, if its crap it may or may not sell for not so sexy prices.

One thing due to timing could be end of month so renewal / invoice / bills time for a few people possibly ?

    Go on I cant resist.

The way that your acting today Lee shows a lot of desperation and is worrying seeing a person like this.

The 135 domains that I brought this month will net me about 10 grand in sales maybe more.

So thats not a bad investment for £675

I wasnt having a pop at your domains for sale I am a market person in which I know trends and sales figures and how to make money.

I always spend to invest and if I posted a list of those 135 domain names that I brought and sold for £20 - £50 a time I could have £6,750 at top whack without doing anything.

£2,700 at bottom price of £20
£6,750 at top whack of £50

Some of them I regret buying now being honest and depending upon sales figures for the next two years for those domains, then they might be dropped.

If they make money then they probaly will be safe.

I am in a market that increases earning potential every year, I'm not in the market of wanking in the dark and hoping that I score an own goal.

If you can turn 135 average/sh*t domain names into 10 grand then why did you only buy 135?

Your slipping back into that pre-ban annoying arse mode Mark!

To turn 135 domains into 10 grand takes work

If I could buy 500 domain names at one time and make them earn say £50,000 without doing the work, then obviously I would.

So should I buy 135 domains and have them parked on SEDO and expect them to earn me 10 grand.

    I think not

    Couple of pence click thrus

You should be banned just for being a worthless piece of nonsense, being polite of course.

I have put up basic templates on some of the domains but a lot still have to be done.

Getting into the search engines takes usually a week if you know how, but usually three months before you start seeing profits.

Depending upon which area you are targetting then some take more work than others.

Some domains are better having proper time and care on them due to being more profitable than others.

E.G car insurance at £60 a sale, that sure beats click thrus.

I used to drop a lot of domains simply because I didnt have the time to set websites up.

www.expirences.co.uk was a parking page, I put up a basic site about two weeks ago and already made £19 in one sale.

So that domain has already paid for itself, and that has been doing nothing since I brought it so maybe a year.

So taking that £19 mutiply by 135 £2565 at a very basic figure.

Add sales that amount to more than £19, say £40 for car insurance £5400

Do the maths grant before you want to pipe up

Go and sit down and be a good boy
