2012 End of the world? NO but...

Well today is a sad day in the news and now what about 2012? end of the world? Well not quite!

I do think something is building up and don't think the World will end more like it will destory it's parasites... Us!

Hopefully not, but across the globe I think so many natural disasters will keep happening and so many people will be killed, say 99.999% of the population will die.

Humans will end and be destoryed, Not the Earth.

Not about been cheerful just seeing a bit of a trend and we are parasites, sucking resources dry and moving on.

Chill out. We will all be here after 2012 and well beyond. By the time we have sucked the earth completely dry we will be terraforming and inhabiting different places and bringing our goodies back to earth.

If we solar panel parts of the moon and beam the energy back we will have enough power to light the world and that's our nearest rock. When we are all dead they will be going where no man has gone before and scotty will be bringing it all back to mother earth.

It's all a pipe dream as we will have nuked ourselves and destroyed mankind and the planet within our lifetime. Very strong possibility given the current state of affairs :shock:

I don't think we will wipe ourselves out but I do think we will see dirty bombs deployed by mad fundamentalists within our lifetime.

They are happy enough to blow themselves up already. I'm more than sure they would be even happier to take out 4 blocks in the process. The only thing stopping this at present is getting the material to do it but money and being in the right place at the right time will see this happen.

Are there any stats to show that natural disasters are happening more frequently?

There are Stats and they confirm that there is NO increase in natural disasters. The perception of an increase is because of the following:

1. World wide media reports are now instant therefore remain in the public eye far longer, they used to be mostly reported several days after the event and therefore were sidelined pretty fast.

2. Media reports now usually include live TV footage bringing the event much more closer to our own sense of reality.

3. Global travel also brings a lot of these areas in to our familiarity.

4. Population concentration (metropolitan lifestyle and infastructure) - Has the effect of natural disasters appearing as either Non-events or of Major human impact.

From a personal point of view I will add that having seen the video footage of the Sendi (Northern Japan) Tsunami and with the knowledge that this maxed at 10 metres in height - I have spent many a moment today remembering and just trying to imagine the Indonesian Tsunami of 2004 that killed 140,000 people and Maxed at 30 Metres (A 100 ft high wall of water moving inland) and what those that had no warning last thoughts and fear must have been.

We only saw the aftermath of that event - could you imagine how powerful that image would be if we had seen the same video footage. I think we all might have believed the end of the world was here

What would it take to mess humans up in 6 months? What if what has happened in Oz, New Zealand, Japan, India etc happened on a bigger scale and more wide spread?

Something like:

• Yellowstone National Park to go bang
• 10 Big quakes followed by some massive Tsunamis
• No fly zones because of ash in most of the world for months
• Some powerhouse around the world decide "I've had enough" So send nuclear or dirty bombs off.
• The quakes, dust, contamination and Tsunamis cripple our telecoms, power, food, transport, health...

Just a final thought, when fuel next year hits £2 a litre who could afford that?

The problem with people talking about the world ending/not ending is people select small parts of evidence without including and comparing the counter statistics which is a must to show any sort of corralation in anything.

What most of these "the world is going to end" and "theres no such thing as global warming" people do is pick out all the statistics that help there arguement but neglect all the other statistics.

It's basically like me having a domain that two days out of a month made £5 on each day and saying it made £5 everyday of the month.

My own personal view is that we are to blame for it, but nature does have its part to play and has done for millions of years.

I'm not saying some big thing is going to happen like that wiped the dinosaurs out. Sure things have been happening like quakes, flooding, etc

But we do rely on gas, petrol, power, telecoms, internet, good health, houses, tankers of oil, food, cars, and tbh I don't think it would take much to really put us humans on the edge of been wiped out.

So yes your right in saying nothings new in the events that are happening but their was less people and structure to unbalance I think.

Even in this digital age I think we are relying on things way too much in my eyes.

I'm just waiting for the ethnic riots in some of our northern towns. Will make the liverpool riots in the early 80s look like a sunday picnic.

Maybe not this year, or te next 10. But will happen!

My money is on some massive local gamma ray burst or supernova from the Carina constellation ... ripping our atmosphere away within seconds, leaving us all to suffocate.
