All .co.uk

3dlcdtvs
3dledtvs
3doledtvs

Triple keyword domains surely in the premium search bracket (obviously not as up there as 3dtvs or 3dtv etc).

Anyone surprised they were still available to register?
Surely must be in the high £xxx to low £xxxx value for these keyword domains (then what do I know ;) ).

Were I the only one surprised by these domains still being available? Or do you think they're not all that?

They're not names I would have registered, put it that way.

I'm not 100% down on them, as I do think that these have some potential in the future - but only really if they are developed - ie the value would be in the sites & sales if 3d tv takes off, not in these particular domains.

For the £100s or £1,000s you quoted you can still buy strong generic names in established niches that already have consumer demand. For me those would win hands down every time over speculative 3 word registrations.

You're already on page 1 of Google UK for '3dlcdtvs' by virtue of this thread, and G are offering plenty of relevant results. Not bad IMO. As Ty says, all in the development which shouldn't be that hard with EPN or something like that.

Cheers for the replies. It's good to get opinion elsewhere as I appreciate I'm a novice in the domaining world. I should get to work on development then.

I don't like numbers, or multiple abbreviations, I'm told I'm stupid tho so what do i know :p

I wouldn't reg 5aside for the reason of number and 3 words, so number and 2 abbreviations I wouldn't either.

I think a mini-site with some aff feeds, and epn in time (i.e. a later date for epn) should pay for themselves. The good thing with aff feeds is you can do the focus on 3d but offer other LEDs and try to cross sell.

I always try to do that ;)

I agree with skinner. Too many abbrevations and it all gets a bit crazy. In terms of 3dtv there are s many ways of saying almost exactly the same thing, that 3dtv.co.uk and 3dtelevision(s).co.uk are going to be the big money domains, and those underneath will receive less interest. That's not to say that the names you've bought aren't worth anything. If 3d really takes off, i'm sure you'd get something for them, and it you develop, who knows, you could have a successful affiliate site on your hands.

I've tried to take a broad approach to 3d domains in the hope that it takes off in a big way, and there is some value or potential in the domains i registered. A handful of them:

3dcapable.co.uk
3dbillboards.co.uk
3dtv-deals.com
3dtvadvertising.co.uk
3dtvblog.co.uk
3dtvinstallers.com
3dtvsubscriptions.co.uk
3dtvsystems.co.uk

3dready will be one of the tags like hd ready and stuff like that :)

I'm pretty sure money is dev, if you make one TV of any type sale for 500 in 2 years, its all good, and I think 1 lucky day in 700 is pretty good odds :)

I think if G can parse the abbreviations and make sense of them, you're okay. This is the case with '3dlcdtvs' and '5aside'.

Yes, I'm with you on that time of thinking. I bagged:

3dcapable.co.uk
3dcompatible.co.uk
3dcompliant.co.uk
3dreadytelevision.co.uk
3dreadytelevisions.co.uk

a while back..

One thing I'd say about 3d "anything" is that if it takes off in a big way and becomes the norm it might have the opposite effect to what's expected.

People used to talk about "colour televisions", but now the fact that televisions are colour is taken for granted... next came "flat screen TVs", but now you expect that too and the search volume has bombed... then there were "widescreen TVs", but now they're all widescreen...

These timescales aren't big either... just a thought.

Picked up 3D-TV.co.uk via dropcatcher back in 2005, went years without any offers, had 3 offers so far this year.

Yes, it's a difficult one to judge. Really when I talk of "in a big way" I'm meaning more a scenario where it succeeds at some pint. I think due to the cost involved, and closeness to the whole 'hdtv' push, even if 3dtv does amazingly well, it will be a good few years before "3DTV" effectively becomes "TV" (as in, everyone will have one, so we can drop the 3D).

It's certainly a name with a shelf life. For instance,I wouldn't want to be sitting on an undeveloped "hdtv" domain in a year or so.

I think that 3D domains are good for the long haul. It's a breakthrough in broadcast standards technology for the masses, not a change in the physical format of the receiving device. An analogy would probably be the advent of colour TV. The trend in 3D movies would seem to support this momentum, with 18 releases slated for 2010 including a possible 'Harold Potter' offering, as I hear on Sky today.

I still don't get this 3d fad, but I thought, I've got to get one of those new 3d domains, so I went to see what was left at my local 123-reg.

I rushed down there and I had a quick scrabble around for the type of 3d I want, but it had already sold out in .de .com .eu .info .net and .org.

Blimey, I thought, these must be popular. And there, behind a box on the shelf, was a spare .co.uk. Anyway, I had to have have 'cos it's selling so fast. I just regged it, no thinking, no questions.

It looks nice and lot of people are talking about this model of 3d on Google with a lot of technology already there. Someone else might want it off me one day for a bit of a mark up.... you never know.

So I am now the proud owner of my shiny new 3d domain, model name is:

interactive 3d?

You can also extend further, for instance, what comes after 3d? The next big thing - interactive 3d?

So a combination of interactive, active, 3d might also be worth looking at.

I picked up i3d/co/uk from a catch a few years ago, have sat on it with no offers :( and hopefully the whole 3d boom might change the procspects for this one.
