I remember AltaVista being my home page for a while after dialling in to my ISP

Another one that succumbed to the AOL / Yahoo portal makeover. Shame it took everyone so much time to realise that people just want a search box - they don't want the weather, horoscopes and the funny story of Tiddles the cat who barks like a dog. Just one search box in the middle of the screen!

Amazing though to think this search engine was almost 20 years old!!

It had a bollocks 'algorithm' but it was very popular. In my opinion Yahoo went way overboard with 'information overload' on their search pages. They completely missed the boat when it came to customer usability.
