Bridgend is a county with population of 140k, a Welsh Assembly Constituency with the First Member Carwyn Jones as the AM, a UK Parliament constituency with Labour MP Madeleine Moon, the name of the county borough council (operating on bridgend.gov.uk), and a town with population 40k that operates as the centre of business for the area. It has over 3,000 businesses, including large ones such as a Ford engine plant, a major Logica presence and the Lidl distribution centre. They are starting construction of a new 1500-home development within the town.
