Hi,

I have noticed that a University set up this site jobs.ac.uk

OK i thought if its just for themselves, or maybe even a well known group of Univerities etc

But this site offers adverts to commercial users, how can this be?

Can we all start approaching any educational establishment, even the local free schools and offer them a share, while registering some great keywords for businesses?

Is it just me or does this not feel right?

Caroline, universities have competed in commercial sectors for many years. I've done work for one whose graphics and printing department was run as a commercial business.

I agree they should, but should they be able to use an ac extension?

I think it's ok. Students these days need every bit of help they can get to find jobs, they're going to part of a lost generation, so sites like this are great to see on .ac.uk.

According their about us page run by the by the University of Warwick that's why they can use the .ac
Vast majority of jobs advertised are research positions available within university's as well
