Can anyone help with a comments page issue?
I have a template which the creator is P*ss poor at supporting. Anyway the comments submission asks for Name, email and website

I want to remove the website box because people can then submit urls and are more likely to spam. I can't always differentiate spam either as every comment has a url.
Anyone know where I might find the code to remove that and what it might look like?

thanks

Why don't you buy a spam plugin if some of the comments are legit?

I've got a spam filter. I don't see the point of people having to submit a URL for a comment and not everyone has one anyway. Name and email should suffice.
I've tired suggested fixes and they either don't work or aren't relevant to my theme. Iive even created a custom plugin rather than editing wp code but still no good.

Shouldn't be to tricky to find. Ive not checked myself but I would have thought it would be in comments.php and/or functions.php dependant on your theme (Wordpress which it sounds like you are using)

Use a plugin like firebug to look for the html code then do a search in the theme files.

You could try Disqus?

Only problem there is that users need another account to comment which isn't ideal.

Find the single.php or page.php

Look down the code to find:

<?php comments_template(); ?>

delete that out. Bobs yer gran.

OK sorry reread that.

In comments.php find:

<label for="website">

something like that, delete the block of code associated with the website field.

I've Installed a Wordpress plugin called something like "remove URL from comments" that stops making people enter a url

Thanks All, I was being a muppet. I had commented out the website part in comments.php but not the copy for my theme!
