DAC Response Time

Does a faster Internet connection mean faster DAC replys or is the 20ms delay Nominet quote for delay produced at the DAC end of things.

well, let's assume your server is near the nominet dac servers. It's going to be a few ms each way to get the data to and from their servers. Let's assume 5ms as an average. That leaves 10ms for nom to do the lookup and report the information back. Seems decent to me...

My initial DAC testing was done on a RH box at home, Telewest 4mb up 500 down from london and I could'nt catch bugger all with that.

Faster the better.

I would have thought number of hops made more difference than speed after a certain point.

Thanks for the feedback guys.

Going to have to look at a dedicated server at some stage, not good trying to catch names while the kids are eating up all the bandwidth trying to download the latest Bob the Builder game
