DL Sale: midwife.co.uk (4,400 GBP)

Didn't really understand the high price for this one, anyone care to explain to me?

The price is right, only seems weird when you others just as good not fetching the same, but economic meltdown or no economic meltdown people aren't exactly going to stop having babies so perhaps price reflects this.

In fact if buyer is who I think it is, price DEFO makes sense. It's his area of business.

Bought by the company who owns childcare.co.uk so this will fit nicely with their existing site, and this now redirects to the child care site.

Good sale! Even if it was for a individual mid wife would be a great way to be remembered!

There has always been and always will be some moaning about the economy.

Wasn't saying the price was right or wrong, just wasn't sure where the value was. Guess it's what happens if two people really believe in and want a name...and that's wghat an auction is all about...

I do think this is a 5 to 10k domain name. It's just a question of a buyer and seller understanding where the value lies and it ticks a lot of boxes.

Popular generic
huge Industry
memorability
length
extension

If your running a successful online enterprise which other domainers are tracking, and they come across a domain they know absolutely compliments your business and you come across it too, say on DL, your basically bidding against having to buy it off them at 3 or 4 times the price anyway. So I'd imagine 4.4k feels like a saving here. Factor in the web it's now pointing too, and it's a snip. You can't help it but as a rule of thumb it's probably best not to track a domain after you've sold it, cos later on you can find you could have asked 4x the price etc. Wonder how the seller feels about the price now?

I was a losing bidder on this domain :-( Was hoping to using it for private midwifery services. Private midwife services can be upto £2k for a package so I think 4.4k is good value for the domain. Just wish I had deeper pockets.

What this sale taught me is that even though YOU (i.e. me) don’t immediately think of a use for a domain, it does not necessarily mean there is no real use for the domain. I honestly could not think of a decent use for midwife.co.uk but now that I saw the Childcare.co.uk site, it makes perfect sense. Congrats to both buyer and seller.

yeah i nearly decided to buy this but seeing who won it he'd probably have beat me :)

great buy imho.
