Could anyone enlighten me on something again please :-)

Just saw this at bottom of search I made

In response to a complaint we received under the US Digital Millennium Copyright Act, we have removed 1 result(s) from this page. If you wish, you may read the DMCA complaint that caused the removal(s) at ChillingEffects.org.

I get it obviously, but my search was through google.co.uk and location was set automatically in the UK also, so can a US company have a UK domain removed for example?

DMCA is a US copyright law and initiative. It doesn't hold grounds in the UK.

However, most hosts / companies will react to it even though they aren't legally obliged to.

In the UK we have the EUCD - not quite sure how you use this for a website.

Always wondered what chillingeffcts was :?

I never checked it because it sounded to me like some sick porn site, what a stupid name for a site created by a group of legal eagles :???:

Thanks, must be why they are showing it on google uk search result pages then.

Slightly unfair for those on page 2 or more, as if you read that at the bottom of a generic search term, you guess the top one or page 1's are the only legitimate ones.

Having to place that at the bottom of every search result where a banned website used to appear must be a nightmare.
