Interested to know, if you are slapped with a DRS do Nominet first contact you by email or by post, and if it's email do they use the one that is in the registrants details. Reason I ask is what happens if you're out of the country on a long holiday, you obviously can't check your post so would Nominet send you an email as well?

Yes, an email is send to the main email and postal address linked to the tag/membership.

This contains the drs documentation.

Sorry to sound thick but what you're saying is that an email is sent to the registrants email address stored on Nominets database at the same time as a letter is sent to the registrants postal address?

It's just that recently I can remember somebody here on this forum who lives in the Caribbean had just lost a DRS case because he couldn't get the reply back to Nominet in time and I thought at the time he said that Nominet didn't send out an email (as that would have helped him). Is it at Nominets discretion if they do send an email?

I got the email before the documents - sent concurrently. In Mikes' case you quoted I don't think the email got through, which was one of the issues.

DRS contact

We send an email to the address on the register, to anything obvious on the front page of any website, and to [email protected]

DRS Procedure 2 fully explains the service process.
