If you've got a load of spare DAC capacity for any reason, it would be very interesting to see the result of the following test(s)
1. Download the Alexa 1,000,000 sites zip
http://s3.amazonaws.com/alexa-static/top-1m.csv.zip
2. Strip out just the sites that end in .co.uk (and count the total number of .co.uk sites)
3. See how many of those sites have matching .uk domains registered already
4. Do the same for the Quantcast 1,000,000 data
http://www.quantcast.com/quantcast-top-million.zip
We should then have some very solid, hard and fast numbers as to early .uk takeup compared to existing "active" .co.uk websites.
(Perhaps it's best to post to this thread if you're going to do one/both of the above exercises, to avoid duplication)
