This thread can only go badly wrong; such an emotive subject. Some consider other human beings as priority, others animals, a bond with an animal can be just as strong (and I can back this up with helping raise funds for guide dogs and the connection owners have with these life savers). I think regardless, the generosity shown to donate such a significant sum rekindles some faith in people; that good can come from such a tragedy.
