Hi All - I'm new to domain development (so apologies if this question is obvious to some) & am looking to develop a domain, my dilema is this -
I've noticed two distinct approaches out there:-
1) Focused Mini site, with, for example, a comparison store (like Affiliate Window), this site might have a small number of static pages focused around a couple of key phrases.
2) Niche blog - again foucused on key phrases for selling, but with regularly updated content. Affiliate sales are more liekly to be handled with Pre-sell pages & text links to affililiates.

Which should I choose as my approach? Is there a more effective choice? Or is it just personal preference?

Any advice appreciated

Try both.. and see which works best for you and your domains.

Very dependent on the subject matter, and how focussed you plan to be ie. it's easy to blog about 'gadgets', but not so easy to blog about 'foot massagers'.

If you want to make money quick then "comparison" type sites or using the affiliate window shop data is a good place to do that.

If you are good at writing content it's worth putting that skill to good use.

It all depends on what you want to achieve as the end goal.
