dont encourage them
personally not a fan of the "-", i dont suppose search engines are either. It seems a bit of a loop hole that these get well ranked in certain engines?

I used to try and avoid them, but now an increasing number are regged anyway.

Google in particular uses the hyphen as a word separator, so for example, pen-island.co.uk would get pen as a keyword, where as penisland.co.uk might get penis and land
