I've got mixed views on the new tld's, but it's my opinion that the majority will be a .FLOP

Just had this email from eurodns...

"The beer industry is highly competitive with an ever increasing number of breweries, bierkellers, microbreweries, beer festivals, home brewing enthusiasts, bars, real ale blogs, public houses, retailers, taverns, you get the picture. This means that there is going to be huge competition for this premier strength domain, so we strongly recommend that you place your pre-orders as soon as possible. "

Is .BEER for real ? I can think of very few examples where it would be worthwhile registering any.beer domains

Will .BEER be one of the first to fall over ?

Perhaps I shouldn't say this, but I don't get over-excited about domains as an investment prospect anymore. That's because the investment driver of scarcity has gone. The law of supply and demand means that further extensions just means further availability and dilution of investment prospects.

It depends what you define as a flop, but as far as speculative domaining goes with all the new extensions, I'm not that excited about them. Some clever uses of new extensions will work well for marketing, but it will be hard for a domainer to predict what marketers think of as "good", and hard to resell domains.
