Hi

Im considering converting a domain/website of mine from co.uk to .uk and get a fresh start within Google, co.uk was penalised a while back.

Looking for advice on how to go about this. co.uk site is ranking well with other search engines and id like to keep that revenue stream active. Can i have duplicate sites on .uk & co.uk?

Any experience is greatly appreciated!

Duplicate content on 2 or more sites is always a bad idea.

As far as I know Google will treat the 2 sites as separate entities as they are on different extensions, but if both sites have the same content it will penalise one of them, if it has already penalised the .co.uk then there is little chance it is going to love the same site on a different extension.

You would also run the risk of the other search engines penalising you for have duplicate content, this could lead to your revenue stream from the .co.uk being hit anyway.
