English or local language for global domains??

Okay... the thread title doesnt even make sense....I'd like to know peoples opinion on Brand domains in local markets.

Do you think its best to reg the English brand name in like .de .br etc or translate your brand/keyword?

greatbrandname.de or großenmarke.de

Your thoughts welcome :)
 
For France and Germany it’s a nightmare (possibly other countries to ) regional peculiarities Cross-Linguistic, Cross-Cultural etc for example
"Apfelsine / Orange" for the phone company the latter was chosen below link give geographical of the word usage with pretty dots?

Other research by University of Leipzig did a computational linguistics database. Crawled magazines, newspapers, text resources on the net collecting info on word frequencies, word types and typical collocations of word etc there reports brought up strange results particuly for germany so if branding for there I’d research a lot? and if you can’t be arsed with that register both :)
