Lost connection suggests either the wrong database driver has been loaded and you've failed to make a connection or the SQL server is down / failing. Have you asked your host?
First thing to try is to restart mysql either through cpanel/whm or command line ssh.
The try rebooting if still an issue.
One thing to look at is MySQL and to set the interactive_timeout & wait_timeout settings in /etc/my.cnf to something like 300. That's seconds. The mysql process may be timing out though that shouldn't be the case really.
yeah I checked last night and it was working on my iphone. Its not even loading anything up now on my desktop, speak to your host they should sort it or at least tell you what the problem is.
