Nice to see some registries using their initiative to find a solution to GDPR restictions...

Well done KSregistry. :D

Given Nominet's previous reluctance to send emails to .uk registrants, I doubt this is a model they will be adopting. :(

That's presumably if the domain owner has agreed to receive these emails.

101Domain are making a similar change, according to an email update I just received from them...

Additional changes coming into effect May 25, 2018, include changes to our public-facing WHOIS database which lists information and ownership about your domain names for public consumption. As of this date, we will no longer be making available any personally identifiable information on our public WHOIS. Your organization information will continue to be displayed where provided. Any contact attempts being made by others regarding your domain name can be made using a web-based contact form on our Site which will be forwarded to you upon a user’s submission. Your information will remain private during this process, and we will not retain a copy of this communication.

So perhaps an accidental byproduct of GDRP will be to make certain GTLD owners more reachable, since there may be a web-based form to contact them whereas before a lot of them hid completely behind Whois privacy services.
