Noticed changes affecting most of my sites today on G. They've been stable over the last couple of weeks, but today saw all of them jump around a bit - both the home pages and internal pages. Anyone else noticed any changes today?

Yep I have noticed changes, all my my previously high ranking internal pages on one of my sites have disappeared from SERPS, hope its just a temporary thing, seem to me that it takes a good few months for new sites to settle these days.

I've had a bit of jumping over the past few days in google.com for a site that I'm trying to rank internationally. It's been stable in the .co.uk as far as I can see, but hits have dropped overall.

Same here. A couple of sites seem to move around frequently, one of them even disappears completely for a few days and then returns.

A couple of mine are all over the shop, but that's not limited to this week they've been doing it for ages.

I would agree completely going by what my own sites are doing

Mine are jumping around like hotcakes, however they are all on the same IP using a similar infrastructure

@op - are yours on same IP address / share same url structure(s)

Also, I don't know when this happened..but doing a site search used to always (for me anyway) yield homepage at the top of the results

e.g. google search 'site: xyz.co.uk'

Now I get hosts of internal pages above my homepage. Just a thought - but something which has def changed in last few months.

Theres wierdness ahoy..

Several domainsthats i'd not done any link building on yet have vanished from serps yet still appear indexed on a site: check and also rank top on excerpts of text and also a search on their URL so they are not toasted just google fecking about with stuff methinks...

I wonder if we are seeing exact match domain benefit being wound down?!

If you've got the money there's a pretty good service I used to use (before Google instant kicked in) called interwebbing

www.interwebbing.com

Was an industry secret of mine but hey about time + happy to give back to acorn

If you like it rep more than welcome :)

All the SERP checking tools I've used can't keep up with Google's constant bouncing up and down.

I'm never going to make any sales if the sites don't settle down, maybe time to try PPC again...

Just thought I'd mention however, Interwebbing isn't a piece of software on your machines it's run on their own servers & delivers you regular reports via email on sites over hundreds of keyphrases. It's a great bit of kit, and stores historical positions with all kinds of complicated graphing type stuff.

If (like me) you can't be bothered running software on your machine, this could help track rankings for those that want to or are looking for an easier solution.

I signed up just after I posted, just waiting for the report to come through now..

I took the free option and gave it one of my most unsettled sites to check, lets see how it does. The layout and stuff is good, easy to use. Do you pay Nick I guess?

When I was agency sure, used it a lot paid had xx accounts with them.

No longer agency (self employed) so don't have to report across multiple keywords / clients monthly - it's a huge pain to do it manually.

Fair enough the free version seems good enough! And yes it is a pain in arse doing it manually, even on a few sites. I've just noticed a site I bought last week, cleaned up the grammar and spelling on and added two extra pages of solid relevant content to, has slipped back by 4 pages..

All of my sites are on the same IP, or I would imagine so as they are all add-on's on my hosting account. They aren't linked amongst themselves at all, I'm wondering as well if this is playing a factor?

I've recently been using Advanced Web Ranking after I saw a recommendation for it from Frog on here. Coming up to the end of the trial now but I'll be paying for it as it seems to work very well for tracking keywords.

Basic version costs a one time fee of $99 and lets you create as many projects as you want, each containing unlimited websites (i.e. you can also include competitors in your projects to keep track of their rankings for the same keywords too) and an unlimited number of keywords.

Loads of other features too, but as there is a one month free trial I'll let that do the talking! :)

I've said it before, and I'll say it again - everyone who's serious about making money online should own a copy of AWR. Its single handedly the best value piece of seo software you can buy - in fact its just about the only one I'd recommend you buy :D

To make a good deal even better, if you have an seo or internet marketing blog you can get it free in exchange for a review - http://www.advancedwebranking.com/special-offers.html

If anyone is interested and would rather spend time writing a review than paying in cash, I'll host your review on searchengineoptimisation.org. It would need to be a good quality review that you'd spent time on though, not some 500 word turd you'd thrown together in 10 minutes to hit the word limit :) So you'd get the free software, I'd get any traffic the review generates.

PM box is full, if anyones interested stick a reply here and I'll get back to you.
